No problem with the food or atmosphere as its a standardized chain store, but felt the need to leave a one-star for service experience because I went in to grab a quick bite at 9pm, ordered right away and found a seat to wait for my order, and then after a couple of minutes, I realized that the whole crew seem to be on dinner break as the three of them were all sitting at a table and eating, but I quickly thought to myself that this can’t be the case, there must be somebody in the back kitchen working on my order. That is however not the case, the person who took my order went back to eating with the other two, and with finger-licking good food, literally licking fingers while eating his food, and without any intention to rush, they finished their food after about another 4 or 5 minutes, and then proceeded back to their work station and started preparing my order, and out of an urgent need to confirm, thank god the person who licked his fingers was preparing my order with gloves on, and out of curiosity, I looked into the kitchen and saw no one, so it confirms that indeed they felt 100% normal to get back to enjoying and finishing the food after taking the order and leaving the customer to wait. I have nothing against the employee, but cannot excuse the owner or the manager of the store as how could you have this sort of break arrangement having everybody to break at the same time and have the customer waiting for you in a fast...
Read moreI had heard a lot of good things about Firehouse years ago only to discover they didn't have any in Toronto. Then out of nowhere, they've popped up all over the place!
Clean front of house, social distance signs in place and very friendly fella behind the the counter who clearly identified we hadn't been there before and walked us though some of the ordering options.
This meatball sub has ruined the meatball sub for me at places like Subway and Mr. Sub. It came out so perfect looking, with the exact amount of meatballs to fill it, bulbling provolone with herbs sprinkled on top... And it lived up to the looks with that taste of a fragrant marinara sauce and meatballs that actually taste like meat. The bread is oddly a little sweet, but I dig it.
We tried the desserts (chocolate chip cookie, sugar cookie and brownie). Cookies had a great taste but more on the cakey/soft side, brownie was very chocolatey, but so much so my girlfriend couldn't finish her half-- so I shamelessly inhaled it as I thought it was fantastic.
I can't wait to try more from this place, but I don't know how I could resist ordering a meatball next...
Read moreFriend recommended I check out Firehouse Subs. He is now leading the race to be the Godfather of my unborn child.
Fluffy and soft bread without the smell and aftertaste from that one-chain-that-shall-not-be-named. There was so much meat and toppings in the sub that, halfway through it, I was sweating and I took a break to check the time and my surroundings.
“How long have I been here?”
“Are my loved ones concerned for my safety and well-being?”
The sandwich was so massive that I wonder if when we send food to developing countries, are the crates all just filled with Firehouse Sub sandwiches.
Would go here again. Would bring a friend.
P.S. Why did I knock 2 points for service? The workers were distracted and just kept talking to each other. Made me wonder if my sub could’ve been done faster.
P.S.S. -1 point for atmosphere? Inside looked like a Subway but with different window dressing. Not bad, just nothing stand-out...
