I've been eating here for years, as my dad knowns the owners and I always get the same thing. Today I went in to get an alternative option because I wasn't as hungry but was still craving my usual, so I went with my friend.
I always order the main Bandeja Paisa without the beans and sausage (I'm allergic to something in the sausage). Today, I decided to order a mini bandeja and told the girl the same as always, which she repeated back to me correctly. I asked her how long it would take because I was on time crunch since I only get 1/2 hour of lunch from work, she said 10 minutes. I waited in the car, because the spot was really hot. Then quickly walked in and grabbed the food and left because I was already late to get back to work.
When I got home, it was to my surprise, they gave me the chorizo (sausage) instead of chicharron (pork belly), which sat on top of all of my food. Because of my fear of my allergies, unfortunately I wasn't able to eat my food.
I called the restaurant to advise them of the error, and the lady basically said you never said that. My boyfriend who doesn't speak Spanish, even said "Babe you said no frijole and no chorizo, and the girl repeated back to you with words frijole and chorizo. If i would have heard chicharron, i would have corrected you." which he knows is my usual because sometimes he orders for me. I told the lady that I live within walking distance of the restaurant and I'm willing to bring it back in tact as is since it wasn't even touched (which was my mistake of not checking at the restaurant initially due to the fact that i was rushing home). She said she would talk to the kitchen manager and then ultimately said "Because I've left the establishment with the food, they're not willing to do anything for me." Despite me telling her about my allergies.
So what should have been a $20 delicious meal, which I can't eat whatsoever, ended up in the garbage. I had to order food elsewhere and pay for another meal. Which sucks, because the food at the establishment is REALLY good, hence why I keep coming back.
I understand mistakes can be made, and an ownership to the mistake that was made by the person who took my order would have been appreciated, instead of being blamed for ordering incorrectly. I have a feeling she may have just punched it in incorrectly, since when she read it back to me, it was as I always request it; no chorizo no frijole. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't order something that gives me allergies and would ultimately end up in the garbage. (True definition of throwing away money - which I'm sure no one appreciates)
Word of advise for take out orders : Check your food BEFORE leaving the...

Ordered some empanadas for my daughter's first birthday. Her dad side of the family are all Colombian and I wanted to make sure they were authentic. These were delicious, we had the beef, chicken and cheese. The chicken had big chunks of meats, all had great flavour and the cheese they used Colombian cheese. Sauces that came with them were great. I didn't take any pictures because they were all gone quickly. I would recommend this place to my friends and family. Especially for party events, they delivered for a decent price.

Iโm changing my rating and comment for the following reason. When I wrote my comment above last year they were using Colombian cheese for the empanadas and inside the patacones.
However we ordered cheese empanadas, meat and patacone mixto for Fatherโs Day and from the taste of the cheese inside the empanada in addition to the patacones it tasted like process cheese and even the consistency is different.
In addition to this change, the garlic sauce they used to make was thicker but now it seems a lot more watery then they did before.
The meat empanadas empanadas now have a lot more potatoes vs last year it was almost all meat.
We live in Thornhill and we def wonโt be returning to this location anymore for Colombian food. Or getting empanadas caterer. Very sad that the food had...
ย ย ย Read moreI was really excited to try Delicious Empanadas empanadas but really disappointed after I did.
I was fortunate enough to be given a fresh chicken empanada which although bland tasting on the inside the shell was as it should be. In comparison the beef empanada and the was obviously not fresh. The shell was tough and chewy and rather tasteless. If I didn't know I ordered a beef empanada I would not know that there was beef inside of it. I did like the Hawaiian empanada the inside had nice flavor of ham and pineapple... But again the shell was tough and chewy signifying this was not a fresh product.
I also had an order of cassava which was a bit chewier than it should have been. And finally the chicharron...sadly it was over cooked. The skin or rind was crunchy but so was the meat which it should not have been.
The reviews of this place were all really good and like I said I was really excited to try it and in one way I'm glad I tried it because now I know not to go back and another way I'm disappointed that I went because I felt I wasted my money.
I should add though that it could have been the time of the day. Most likely most of the items I'd selected had been prepared earlier in the day and served fresher for lunch.
I was feeding someone from Columbia so it was kind of sad that I presented a...
