My partner and I walked in here at 5:30pm on a Sunday. We were greeted by an abrupt server who sat us down in the practically empty restaurant. We waited a very long time with our menus. So long that we set a two minute limit before we were going to leave and find somewhere else. Finally, with 20 seconds to spare, our abrupt server returns and asks if we’re ready. We order everything: two beers, an app, a burger, and the French onion soup. All specials. Our app, the nachos, arrived cold, but we were starving so we ate them. The burger and soup were fine. All the while, our abrupt server is chatting with every other table, joking with the regulars, googling celebrities who look like the other wait staff, and otherwise generally ignoring us. We eventually asked for the bill and watched as our server messed with his point of sale and flirted with women at the bar for a good ten minutes. Another server sees us looking ready to leave and asks if we’ve been given our bill. He messes with the point of sale for a minute and returns and says “your server should be right over.” Finally my partner gets up and asks our server, still laughing with the woman at his bar, for our bill again. He grabs a receipt and rings us up and we leave.

For a $106 meal before tip, this service was completely unacceptable. The food was not amazing but we never would have reviewed it online if not for the abrupt, coarse, unprofessional service to which we were treated. We wanted to try this place the locals of St Clair West consider a neighborhood joint and the experience left us disappointed. If you’re looking for a better experience, walk three blocks east to Tapworks. Better beer, better food, and much better service. This ostentatious neighborhood institution doesn’t deserve your...

I would give them 0 stars if it was possible. We went to DeSoto for dinner on June 23rd, and it has been one of the worst restaurants I have ever visited in my life. The staff was going around like headless chicken to the point that we waited 30minutes to be seated in a half empty restaurant. When we finally got seated the table was dirty and we asked at least 3 different people if we could get it cleaned before it was done. At that moment I should have listened to my friend and go elsewhere but no, we decided to give them a chance. What a mistake, after taking our order everything went completely downhill, the sweet potato chips and fried veggies were average at best, they were soggy and oily and not worth a30 minutes wait. The main course was a complete joke we ordered one pizza, one veggie burger and one lamb burger, waiting time for the pizza 50 minutes, it arrived before the burgers and the waitress only said: "sorry we have a problem with some staff in the kitchen the burgers are on their way", their way was another 25 minutes wait. By this time the person who ordered the pizza was done with her meal, we got two rushed burgers that were mediocre at best. Then the waitress came to ask if we wanted any dessert I was like no way Jose I will take my bill right away. The cherry on the sundae was the attitude given to me by the waitress when I gave her no tip after the royal treatment we got that evening. Hopefully the owner will read this review and improve their customer service as well as some of their dishes that could be amazing if they were not rushed as they were...

Great location, nice patio. Really good gourmet style pub food and Italian food options as well if that's what you are looking for. Cons: They don't have gluten free options which is a huge downfall. I have a Celiac friend and a family member who really wanted to try this place out. (You can actually find gluten free pasta at the grocery store for the same price as regular pasta most of the time) So not sure why they aren't open to this but in the end it's their decision. Presentation was really off. No napkins were given with our food and drinks the past 2 recent visits. My group ordered some fancy drinks as well and it came in a small water glass which was a turn off for a nice quaint place like this. When I asked for lime and napkins, the waitress tried to dismiss me by saying my drink already came with 1 lime. I asked again if I was able to get more for my friend's drink and she didn't seem like she was having a good day, although this sort of behaviour happened on more than 2 occasions with the same person. I really want to like this place and I wish it was a better experience for us since it is a perfect place to gather, but we won't be coming back here for these reasons unfortunately. Also on a side note, we tend to tip 15-20% no matter the scenario as my group of friends are also in the restaurant industry and we believe we should represent ourselves in the best way, but if things like this keep happening we rather not come...

Overall enjoyed my experience as DeSotos! Cocktails were really good, had the peaches and dreams, long island ice tea, and coco beach . They also have a nice wine list and a variety of beers. Im vegetarian so food is always a little harder. We tried a few thins hummus dip (3.5 stars, little bland so we spiced it up a bit), margarita pizza (3 stars, compared the many pizza places around the area at the same price you can find much better), Onion rings (2 star, not the texture I would like in an onion ring but the chipotle dip was amazing), and the veggie burger (5 stars, the highlight of our meal, delicious patty topped with brie, roasted red pepper, avocado, and tomato makes a surprisingly delicious burger and the fries on the side were AMAZING *thin hand cut fries perfectly cooked*) What makes this a great place to was the service. Not too pushy but around enough to get whatever we needed. Also attentive enough to notice we weren't enjoying the onion rings and took them off the check for us. Very friendly warm service, would recommend trying.

**Review: A Birthday to Remember!** After a disappointing dinner experience at a nearby Dominican restaurant for a family birthday, we decided to seek refuge at this gem downtown. From the moment we arrived, Anthony greeted us with warmth and understanding, accommodating our group of 11 with ease. Our server, Sarah, truly elevated the evening, ensuring every detail was perfect for our celebration. This restaurant reminded us what exceptional service looks like—something so many places fail to achieve. The food was absolutely delicious, adding to the overall joy of the evening. We left with full bellies and happy hearts, already planning our next visit. A huge thank you to the team for making our family member's birthday so special! Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a delightful dining experience!

A group of 6 women after a day of touring the Niagara wine region came here for dinner. We were loud and obnoxious and our server and the rest of the staff never blinked an eye. They handled us with grace and neverending patience. Also, the food was goooooooooood! We had 3 dozen oysters and a billion mussels, plus some nachos and so many fries. And about 100 bottles of wine. So, overall a meal. We sat on the terrace which was comfortable and well lit. This is a favourite little neighborhood go-to. Try it...you'll like it.
