Ed’s is THE local spot for quality ice cream and other treats here in the Beaches. They’ve been here for years and sponsored my first soccer team I was on when I was 6 years old in the Beaches Community Soccer League! I’ve taken my friends, family and fiancé here; we all love the quality ice cream for decent prices. My favourite flavour combo is getting 2 scoops: one of the Sweet Cream and one of the Burnt Marshmallow. Both flavours are delicious! My fiancé loves their gelato, especially the Stracciatella and the Tasmanian Dark flavours. Plus, the staff there are always so friendly and attentive. Fair warning though: expect a line out the door, especially on hot summer days! A local classic spot that our whole family will always keep coming back to.

Was craving ice cream on our way back from the beach and saw this place. Had a huge lineup, so we knew it was going to be good. They had a big menu with a variety of ice cream, gelato, and sorbets to choose from. They also offer other items, including coffee, chocolate, milkshakes, etc. Went with the classic cookies and cream, mango gelato, and rock of ages. They were all to die for. Enjoyed each and every bite. Would recommend going with the suger cone as it tastes much better compared to the regular cone. Prices were decent compared to the quality and quantity you get. The total came to $18 plus tips, which was well worth it. Will definitely recommend and will return to try more items/flavors.

Burnt Marshmallow from this store is on the list of the 100 Most Iconic Ice Creams in the world. This store is on our summer bucket list. We came here after visiting R. C. Harris Water Treatment Plant. I had one regular size of ice cream with Burnt Marshmallow and French Mint flavour in waffle cone. 2 flavours can be chosen in any size. Burnt Marshallow flavour is a must-try. When you almost finished, you would find a small marshmallow in the bottom of the cone! Though there were a few people lining before us, it did not take long to complete the order.

tl/dr: don’t go here if you’re a BIPOC individual, store service is discriminatory and racist

The gelato here is great, but if you’re a BIPOC individual with self-respect, I’d highly suggest choosing a different ice cream shop.

When I was there, I was never greeted or acknowledged by the workers, even though I witnessed their interaction with the white customers before me and they were extremely friendly towards them. This didn’t bother me too much, because workers aren’t always the most polite but that can happen anywhere.

Once I ordered, I was originally standing at one end of the counter to pay where there was a machine, but was taken to another area of the counter by the worker. When I went to pay, my hand got dirty and touched some caramel sauce left on the counter. Not only is this highly unsanitary and gross that they wouldn’t think to clean up that spill right away to maintain the store’s appearance, but none of the workers even acknowledged me once. They audibly heard me express to my friend how my hand touched caramel left on the counter, and did not inquire once to see what was going on, or offer me a tissue after they heard what happened. They didn’t even bother to clean the spill up even after seeing my hand getting dirty. My friend (who is white) was allowed to pay at the side of the counter that did not have the caramel spill.

This isn’t just racist, it’s blatantly ignorant and disrespectful customer service. Clearly the workers were capable of friendly and respectful service, as my friend and I witnessed through their interactions with the white customers who ordered before us. But I wasn’t acknowledged at all, and treated with hostility. Afterwards, my friend told me that one of the female workers laughed at me when my hand had touched the caramel. It’s almost like they left the caramel there intentionally when I was going to pay, just to see my hand get dirty.

The fact that I’m reading multiple other reviews from other BIPOC individuals who also experienced discriminatory service demonstrates the store management’s lack of commitment towards equity and anti-racist training, and their disregard for inclusivity and proper customer service. One or two occasions is one story, but multiple accounts of racist experiences at this store is a pattern. As such, if you’re a BIPOC individual going to this store, don’t be surprised if your service feels...

Great ice cream. It’s real. You taste the milk. Hands down anytime most recommended spots.

Been coming to Ed’s since they opened. In winter always used to get their pints. The man was most enthusiastic artisan ever. Went here today, the blonde girls and a male were running the shop.

One fully dedicated to making the cones and others taking an abnormal amount of time to get anything done. The ice cream is already made, how long do you think it would take to scoop and go?

As a corporate chef, I hire people based on their social awareness and basic skills and the employees couldn’t withstand basic common things, instructions or questions. One waffle come was broken and for exactly 6 minutes she transferred the entire ice cream from one cone to another and another….. and then called her friend. Bare hands. While doing other things. They both held the come and transferred that block of semi melted ice cream into a new one. And handed it over. My friend didn’t know what to say. Just went outside and complained.

It’s an ice cream shop, nobody comes here to leave a negative review. But when employees treat a workplace as their living room, it really sucks for the owners. They didn’t seem to care at all. They were physically present and mentally absent.

Got an ice cream and ended up getting ice cream over Uber eats instead to having to deal with them. Everyone in the line were frustrated. It’s the third time it has happened on our visit. Not one of those days.

All of the cream cones with each of us got leaked all over us, since the marshmallow was not placed deep enough and it wasn’t rolled right. They really need to hire more international diversity to counter this issue or find someone who has worked at McDonald’s.

Marshmallow fluff is what fine dining pastry chef use, maybe give that a shot to resolve that.

$2.50 for a waffle cone isn’t competitive and it isn’t a big deal but when it ruins your car seat and your clothes it’s bit of a problem.

5Lb flour, water and 160grams butter to make a batch does not account to the proper food cost either. If you are gonna charge $10 for icecream, it has to be backed up by better service. Like how it used to be. Everyone in the line...

The gelato was delicious, but spoiled by our horrible customer service experience. Six of us had walked from the beach after hearing how amazing this shop is. Once we got there, the cashier was extremely rude and short with us before we even ordered anything. There was no one in line, yet as we were deciding which flavour to get she was forcing us to hurry, get in line and order. Her aggressive tone offended one of my friends so much she decided not to purchase anything even though she was excited for this ice cream all day. As each of us ordered and received our ice cream, she made snide and unnecessary rude comments. One by one, we waited along the edge of the sidewalk where a line would have formed (if there was one) so pedestrians could walk on the sidewalk. The cashier rudely yelled at us to get out of her line! We were shocked by her tone, but we decided to move so we were no longer in front of the store and instead were standing at the edge of the sidewalk closer to Outrigger, waiting for all our friends to finish. Once we all had our ice cream, we were standing together, deciding where to go and sit, when the cashier came out of the store and yelled at us again to “get out of her line”. Despite the fact that there was no one there and we weren’t even in front of her store! Overall, I have never been treated so poorly, like we were scum that she had a personal issue with and wanted to make our experience as horrid as possible. I will not be returning - no ice cream is tasty enough to justify subjecting myself to this treatment again...
