The restaurant has a quirky design. There is seating in and outside of the restaurant. I recommend sitting inside as it's getting quite cold. Seating is not very spacious in the restaurant and it is a bit tight. If you're seated against the wall, there is a sofa bench style type of seating which is comfortable; otherwise, you're sitting on a standard chair.
We made reservations (thankfully) because the restaurant was very busy. Upon entry for our 10:00 am reservation, we arrived at 9:52 am and was asked to come back at 10 because the only table available had seating for four guests and I had a party of three guests. The hostess pointed to another table where a couple were seated and said that once they were done, we can be seated there and that they shouldn't be very long until being finished. If they weren't finished by the time we came back, the hostess would seat us at the bigger table for four guests even though we were a party of three. Strange request, but it was fine. The hostess was polite when asking and very thankful for us to accommodate this request. Notably, the table where we were supposed to be placed at with the couple eating, it looked like they just started..
When we did return at 10:01 am, we were seated at the table for four (the one that was originally free). My partner and I were waiting for our friend to arrive as she was running a bit late. About 15 minutes in, we were asked to please swap tables for another one where the previous couple were sitting (coincidentally). We were told that once the next table beside them were finished, she would pull the two tables beside each other so we would technically sit four. We were asked if we could accommodate because another family of four came late to their reservation and seemed "frustrated". I don't really understand why we were early for our reservation, had to come back later to be seated, only to be re-located to another table, but were asked to accommodate this family because they late. My partner found this to be frustrating and I was not necessarily happy about this request myself.
When musical chairs was done being played out, my friend arrived and we ordered. We ordered the Chicken + Waffles and Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes with three teas on the side. Everything came in a fair amount of time and tasted wonderful. The service was fair, nothing wow. Waiters and waitresses were called a couple of times when we needed something. The overall experience was ok. The Chicken + Waffles had a nice middle eastern/Indian spice to it. I found this to be unique as I've never had anything like this before. It comes with buffalo sauce which is a bit spicy and maple syrup all on the side. Refills for tea are free, but you need to hold on to your existing teabag.
Unfortunately, I don't think anyone at my table will be returning to this establishment. There are other competitors that have a bigger dining area with good food as well. I understand that there seems to be a hype about this restaurant which is why we wanted to try it out, but in all honestly, it seems like just another brunch place. I wouldn't necessarily recommend to give this place a try, but I wouldn't deter it either. The food itself was actually really good. It's just the overall service and atmosphere that makes me hesitant to recommend.
Also, on a side note, there is only one bathroom and it's located in the basement of the restaurant. The steps are narrow and if you experience claustrophobia, the bathroom is small and tight. It is maintained which is good. The hot water function with the tap does not work, so you will be washing your hands in cold water. There is paid street parking. If you go at certain times of the day, parking will be free, but expect to...
Read moreI've been seeing a lot about this place on instagram in the past few months, but I never got to check it out since I never go to that area.
Recently (before restaurants closing back up for dine-in), a friend invited me for brunch and said she wanted to try Eggstastic. I was super eggs-cited because it's been on my list for a while and I was glad that I was able to go. It was worth the long drive (over 45 minutes!).
The only con for me is the paid street parking. I find that depending on the time of day you go, it's hard to find parking even if there's a lot, it's mostly full because of the amount of restaurants on that street.
However, the restaurant experience was great. The staff were very friendly and professional. We received excellent customer service from Alisar! She was very helpful and even gave us some great recs for menu items.
I also like that they are following the necessary guidelines to ensure a safe dining environment. I noticed tables being sanitized after every use and all staff were wearing masks. There is also a shield protective divider between tables which I liked. It made the experience more comfortable.
Food wise - we ordered different items from the menu, including the crispy chicken, one of the omelet dish, croissants and finished off on a sweet note.
I loved their crispy chicken and the kafta croissant. I don't eat beef much or try to avoid it completely, but I ended up with a kafta croissant by accident and tried it. I loved that the croissant was flaky and the presentation. The fries were also amazing and had a little kick of spice which added a nice flavour.
I must say that the highlight for me though, was the biscoff lava cake! It is served hot with ice cream and the right amount of cookie butter spread. It simply melts...
Read moreThe place has warmed welcoming staff but they tend to change their attitude when it comes to service language. I understand that Canada has friendly approach but you can not address customers by saying “you guys” the whole 45 minutes to one hour of our dining experience the staff were addressing us “you guys” now instead they can address such as “would you like to or will you prefer, or we may offer, we could offer” so , friendly but not professional. I’m not expecting that they address us highly or royal level but it’s so unprofessional to address your customers as “YOU GUYS” Food was filled with house potato’s while the main ingredients are in between the potatoes (accompaniments) the salad needs an bit of balsamic reduction touch as there’s lot of carbs involved in the meal. Taste is just bland as it comes. Sitting arrangements in the restaurant not too comfortable as they set it up few tables in and certainly small size. We had to request to keep the main door closed since we sat in a way directly the wind comes once open the door to us.( due to lack of tables availability) But they fail to maintain as during our visit, door kept open, the staff gets upset and it’s very obvious to see the facial expressions when requested. One time experience certainly not recommended in must visit. Just a emergency or if you in the area may try. As I’ve mentioned the food taste and the balance of plate in nutrition values are very important to maintain in a breakfast restaurant. They said seasonal fruits but had three green grapes each in our plates. Which was big disappointment to start with. Overall menu, environment , comfort, service language, cleanliness, food taste ext need to improve a lot. You can refer to my picture below for more...
