I was happy discovering a branch of my favorite downtown soufflé spot nestled within the Fairview mall. My recent visit to this new location was a delightful journey that mirrored the excellence of its downtown sibling. The air here lacks the burnt scent often associated with high-heat baking, a refreshing change that enhances the overall sensory experience. The controlled mall environment lends itself to a warmth and cleanliness that elevate the soufflé's delicate aroma, allowing each soft, airy bite to be savored without distraction. This subtle difference significantly impacts the enjoyment of their offerings, allowing the true flavors and textures to take center stage.
Presentation-wise, the soufflé doesn't just sit on the plate; so tender that it succumbs to the mere touch of a spoon, speaks volumes of the craftsmanship behind it.
However, no dining experience is without its room for improvement. The seating arrangements felt somewhat limited, a small hiccup in an otherwise seamless experience. The beverages, although happy in quality, left a bit to be desired in terms of quantity. Also, I wish the pancakes were served just a tad warm enough melt the butter atop the cream, would've created a blissful harmony of flavors and textures. Despite these minor suggestions for enhancement, the core of the experience remains untouched by these slight...
Read moreWe are definitely fans of Japanese style pancakes after trying them for the first time in Japan. An absolute experience! Fuwa Fuwa brings just that, those fluffy pancakes to Canada. We had already visited the Fuwa Fuwa location in Vaughan and our experience there was very nice. The Fairview location is much smaller as it's located inside the shopping mall. As for this location, definitely some improvements needed. Using the same small towel to wipe and clean multiple tables, after a period of time, the towel becomes soiled and emits an odor. That odor stays on the table especially if there is water residue left over. Recommendation - Change the towel from time to time during the course of the business day! In Japan, that would never happen. Customer service is held to such a high standard there. Usually asking for a small cup of hot water is not a big deal but for some reason, the cashier lady said they didn't have hot water? Well, you have hot water because hot tea is available on your menu. The cashier lady mentioned, "...we have hot water from the tap". Okay, that makes a ton of sense. Other than that, we received our fluffy pancakes which were delicious and...
Read moreFirstly, if you plan on coming right at opening time, they won't be open. We came on a Saturday morning, but lights were off and there wasn't a soul in the shuttered store despite the listed opening time being 10am. The opening time is more accurately 10:15-10:30am. Even their neighbours told us they usually open half an hour later. The shops next door were all preparing way ahead of time and opened on time. So as you might expect, it took forever to get our food. We waited almost 45 minutes after placing our order as soon as they finally opened. There were only 2 other people ahead of us. One of them got their meal in half an hour, while the rest of us had dismal wait times. We didn't even order much, just a croffle sandwich and a Nutella souffle pancake. Luckily my 2 year old was being a saint of patience that day. I think they're just understaffed in the morning.
Prices were a little steep for breakfast/brunch, but the food was good. We paid total about $40 for 2 items. My husband particularly enjoyed his croffle breakfast sandwich.
We might come back for brunch on some lazy day, but definitely not with our toddler. Only come here if you have nowhere...
