Saint Germain Bakery (Fairview) — Restaurant in Toronto

While the bread/cake here was very delicious and fresh, the management here seems to be very poorly organized. I had placed an online order for this location two days in advance, I ordered some bread, roll cake and 4 slices of their special cakes. I chose 12:00-2:00 for the estimated time I would be there, just like how the website listed. I arrived at the store around 12:35 and when I got to the front, I told them I had placed an online order and told them my name. The cashiers were friendly and looked for my order but couldn't find it, I showed them my receipt with the details and turns out a copy of my order was stuck on the wall behind them the whole time.

Turns out they didn't even pack my order and they scrambled to packing it, not to mention one of the bread for my order wasn't even made yet. They told me it would only take a few minutes and I waited outside the store. I waited for 25 minutes for them to finally finish it and bring it over. What is the point of having online orders available if its not even going to be partially packed or even ready when I get there? It seemed like the staff had no idea about the order to begin with.

Also their phone number for this location doesn't even work and has a high pitched sound that goes off when you call. I'll still be coming back but definitely annoyed with how this first...

I rarely write a review unless it's really good or bad. We decided to try out St. Germain at Fairview mall location based on the excellent reviews. And never expected it caused a such a nightmare for us.

My husband bought over $50 stuffs (incl. cookies, bread buns, Mango cake etc). The so called "Almond cookie" (as marked in store) turned out contains walnuts, which my older one is allergic too. After having 1 almond cookie, my older one started having swollen lips and itching and buring throat reaction, shortly followed by the swollen under eye and body hives. The worst thing the bakery can do is describe loosely about their products without mentioning anything on their packaging as well.

The similar experience goes to the Mango cake we bought, it sent me and my younger one to the washroom within an hour of having it. My husband was the only lucky one who didn't have any reaction since he hadn't had chance to try any of the stuffs yet.

We are perplexed and shocked with the quality of their bakery goods, it turned our evening into nightmare instead of pleasant one. In the end, we had to throw away all the remaininng goods we bought. Extremely disappointed and definitely not recommend...
