Hakka No. 1 — Restaurant in Toronto

Absolutely horrible place to eat at! I've traveled around and tried so many places, given reviews everywhere I go, but this place was beyond words terrible! Save your money and time and try another Hakka place but NOT THIS ! I have no idea why they call themselves No.1. they should take it down and not fool people around !

Let's start with the food: CROSS CONTAMINATION is a very serious issue with food places and every restaurant tries to make sure that they don't contaminate! HOWEVER this place is not taking it seriously! This place needs to be reported to the health authorities! I ordered a chicken dish , their ginger chicken and omg ! It had seafood pieces in it and the flavor was absolutely awful ! The smell and what they called chicken was repulsive! We also ordered their Bombay chicken and Hakka noodles. The noodles looked like they had been frozen and reheated and the Bombay chicken also had fish AND meat pieces in it! We ONLY ORDERED CHICKEN! the seafood flavor and smell was just so bad we had to throw it all out! This was cross contamination at its worst! Honestly not worth going there for just to eat reheated frozen dishes that's contaminated!

Other than that the price is outrageous ! Other Hakka places provide cheaper , more flavorful, cleaner options!

On top of all of this, the owner of this restaurant is such an aggresive, rude guy! Has no manners at all! There was a woman at the restaurant who he was shouting at and that poor lady was taking it all in ! Someone should report this guy for harassment! If someone has an issue with someone you don't yell at them like that and insult them like that and push them around because that's what he was doing! He only stopped this abuse when another guy came up to him to stop! The owner totally ruined the whole atmosphere at that place! He even yelled at another customer for no reason at all ! Absolutely no manners or professionalism ! The whole environment was so toxic that people were trying to leave and get out of there. Honestly don't waste your time or money at this place! It's not worth it!

Definitely do not recommend ! No stars at all for this place! Will definitely be reporting it to the health authorities! As well as the police so they can check for abuse...

Absolutely the Worst Dining Experience – Avoid at All Costs

I honestly regret suggesting this place to my friend. We were simply looking for a decent spot to eat, and I chose this restaurant over several others nearby what a mistake.

From the moment we walked in, the experience was terrible. The hostess gave us serious attitude. It felt like we were being profiled just because we're Black while she welcomed other guests with smiles and warmth, she was cold, rude, and rushed us like we were inconveniencing her. She actually told us to "hurry up" as if she had somewhere better to be. Zero professionalism, no greeting, no smile—nothing.

Then came the shocker: we were told to pay before we even got our food. That’s already suspicious and unusual for a dine-in restaurant, and to top it off, the hostess had the nerve to hint at a tip before we’d even seen a plate.

Once seated, she literally threw the cutlery on the table—not placed, not set, just dropped them like we were in a cafeteria or worse. We were still trying to keep an open mind, but then the food came.

Honestly, the food was disgusting. Zero flavor, poorly presented, and barely edible. It tasted like it had been sitting for hours—dry, bland, and just confusing. The only thing we could force ourselves to eat was the fried rice, and even that was mid. The rest? A complete disaster.

The place was nearly empty, and now we understand why. With service and food this bad, it’s no surprise they don’t have customers. We walked out wishing we had just gone to Popeyes next door. At least we’d have gotten something hot, tasty, and worth the money.

Don’t waste your time, your money, or your appetite here. Unless they completely overhaul their staff, their attitude, and their kitchen—this place is...

Worst Restaurant experience.. The lady taking order believes that she is working for TVA as in Loki Series .. The first Impression while entering , she is annoyed of the fact that we are there to eat and give our money for their food .. We order a Veg and a non Veg dish and as we eat Hakka Chinese regularly and we like the food spicy(chili hot ) ....She said 50 cents more if spicy is needed and we said that is ok please make it extra spicy ... Then the food came it was not spicy nor tasty ...While she came with the bill, I said the food was not spicy at all as I had asked for it and she pointed out that spices are in the table (some hot sauce ,Soya sauce ,Chili Vinegar ) you can make your own ..I said if that was the case why would I request you to make it Spicy ..she was annoyed and walked away !! I am not sure if she is the owner but if there is a real owner who cares , eating out these days is very expensive and with this kind of an experience will pull you down soon ..I rarely write reviews but this kind of restaurant experience will make your...
