I brought my lady here because she wanted to try it, and after reading a lot of other reviews here, I wonder if I just went on a bad day or if we were even in the same burger joint, because the experience was so vastly different from the other's described.

There was one order ahead of us, and one behind us. The cashier was friendly and helped us order. Once we sat down to wait, we saw the staff were all just kind of...chillin' and talking. I don't mind what people do at work as long as the job gets done, but I did notice it was a very 'hangout' vibe. They got the first order to the people within about 5 mins of them ordering, a couple mins before we did. But then the guy after us got his about 7-8 mins after that. So, we immediately thought they forgot us, or maybe our fries were taking longer or something. Everyone was still talking and joking behind the counter, and my girl asked me "how many people does it take to make two burgers?" lol.

We waited, from the time we ordered, nearly 30 minutes to get our food. When we got it, I'm not joking, my burger was lukewarm at best, and the poutine was soggy. I don't know if they forgot our order and were just so busy talking they didn't notice, or what, but I was so hungry, I was like 'it's fine, we'll just eat'.

The burger was so flavorless and the toppings underwhelming, it felt like I was eating a dry, slightly salted, barely warm patty with a bun. I couldn't even finish it. The poutine was so soggy at this point, I could have drank it with a straw, not to mention it, too, had cold gravy now congealing on it.

Man, I'm not the type to leave reviews, and especially not bad ones, but I cannot get this place out of my head anytime I pass it. It was, hands down, one of the worst burgers I've ever had in my life, and I paid around fifty dollars for the pleasure. I hope it was just a bad day, because the other reviews seem like they had a good experience, and as much as I'd love to give a new business in the area a second chance, it was so awful, I don't think I could even do it without feeling nauseous.

Best of luck to you guys, I truly hope you improve and focus on quality, especially for the prices that are being charged. To anyone reading, I hope it doesn't dissuade you from trying them, this is more for the owner/manager to understand there's a consistency issue that needs to...

Updated review.

Lets just say, they have addressed all the issues I found in the past and have consistently delivered on Quality and Order Accuracy, and Communications.

They are our family's go to place for burgers and Fries. Tonight I just had a killer of a Strawberry Milkshake.

Awesome job everyone!

------------- Original Review ------- I like to give a place a number of tries before I comment or write a review. So after 5 takeout visits....

  1. Two out of the 5 visit they got a burger wrong, they forgot to cheese on the Plain Jane (Ketchup and cheese Only) for by daughter.

  2. I had to remind them when they gave me my order they they forgot the chicken strips. I am glad I was watching as I would have had a hungry son when I got home.

  3. It is only a quick 4 minute drive to my home, but some of the food each time is hot and some is already cold. In the 5 separate orders, there is no consistency as to what would be hot and what would be cold, so this leads me that some items are completed before others and are left to cool.

The fries when hot are great, but when they are cold they get soggy if left in the bag too long.

The Onion rings are some of the best I have had when the are still hot.

The burgers are a bit salty, but overall really good. At times there is too much sauce.

I tried to call the number at the bottom of my receipt to see about getting issues addressed tonight on my order, but the number has a message stating it is out-of-order.

While it is nice to see a new business in the area, I think I will go back to Occasions for my burgers and fries. They have always been consistent and accurate. Once Harry's Charbroiled gets it act together, we might give it...

Let me get this out of the way. The burgers and fries are nice, my only complaint about the taste is that they are soggy. I got to the place 10 minutes before my order was ready and the cash guy with glasses told me they would get the order started. I waited until 20 minutes after my order was supposed to be ready, when people walking off the street were getting their names called before me that I decided to ask about my order only to find out the food was already done but just sitting getting soggy. My name was not called. I wonder if that was some sort of slight for not putting a tip for an online order that I was going over to pickup myself. So even the food isn't that great, given the fact that staff are willing to let your food get cold and soggy.

What annoys me the most about this place is that they have the wrong idea regarding tipping. When I come in to order pick up, the POS prompts me for a tip. Why? When I order online for pick up, I'm still being asked for a tip online. Why? Even when you decide to sit in the restaurant, you are not getting table service. So why am I being prompted for a tip when paying for my food upfront? I didn't even get to sit and enjoy my meal and I've been asked for a tip already at checkout. The food isn't cheap here and you are not getting any table service

Places like this contribute to the horrible tipping culture rampant around Toronto for places where you pay before getting to eat your food. This place isn't cheap either. You're looking to spend $$$. Did I mention the lack of table service?!?

Their are better burger places in the east-end if you're not willing to travel the city to check out all the other finer and better burger...

Got a Big Jane & a Red Burger. The Big Jane I had was over the top salty but maybe some people like them like that - certainly not for me. The Red Burger was actually quite decent. 2 burgers came out to $28 (without tips) so if you are looking for cheap burgers, this place ain't for you. I miss the good old days when burgers used to cost $5-6. The real shocker for me was that my wife got their fried chicken burger & the core of it was pink and undercooked, so she had to throw out the rest. So maybe it was her mistake ordering a fried chicken sandwich from a (beef) burger place, but don't get the chicken sandwiches from here - either way, this shouldn't happen considering the premium $$$ they charge for their burgers. There's actually a fried chicken place called Birdies just around the corner so go there instead if you got the hankering for fried chicken sandwiches. We couldn't address the issue at the restaurant because we got the food to take home. The restaurant bathroom was clean and had some funky old school vibes so some points for that.

For fans of a quality smash burger, let me tell you — this spot deserves far more recognition. I ordered the classic Double Jane burger, which comes with two smash patties, each topped with a slice of American cheese, plus pickles, onions, and ketchup. While I would’ve loved if lettuce and tomatoes were included — I added tomatoes for an extra $0.99 — the burger still checked all the boxes of a well-executed smash burger. Served on a soft, lightly toasted brioche-style bun, the patties were packed with flavour and had those signature crispy edges while staying juicy inside — exactly what you want in a proper smash burger. Despite the name Harry’s Charbroiled, I’ve heard the burgers are actually seared on a flattop rather than charbroiled. I ordered delivery this time, so I can’t confirm that firsthand — but either way, the burger delivered on being exceptionally well-charred. This is a burger I’ll definitely be coming back for — and one I’d confidently put on my list of the best in the city.

Harry’s did not disappoint! The Plain Jane was cooked perfectly. The meat was a tad salty which I liked. The fries were less exciting. Overall I enjoyed the meal, although I would’ve liked a way to order a meal combo instead of add things one at a time which made it pricier. Just a burger, fried and coke cost $24. I wanted to eat and take a work call but the staff, after telling me there was internet, said the internet was just for staff. I know this isn’t a coffee shop so no internet is fine, but it is 2024…who doesn’t provide internet for their customers. I’d come back again, but not too often given the pricing.
