As a student, I was forced into a $2000, compulsory meal plan to last me 4 months. It is/was incredibly expensive-and the amount paid for each meal did not speak for the quality, or the quantity of the food at all. The fries and side dishes were drenched in grease, the salads + pastries were stale and kept out all day, exposed to germs and oxidation. Salads had cross contamination with dairy, eggs and gluten 24/7. Meager selection of fruits (oranges sometimes, otherwise bananas, apples only) & unhealthy drinks (energy drinks, sodas, etc) were mainly available. The sushi was old, and I had gotten rotten pieces on 3 separate occasions. The options for someone who is vegan + gluten free (not by choice), were atrocious. They offered me gluten free bread, but did not have any gluten free + vegan meat substitutes, spreads, no soup options, no salad dressings, or cereals or milks that I could use there (only buy cartons for $8/L). I had to request accommodation for my meals in which I had to call ahead of time every day to get 1 dish a day prepared for me. I ended up in the hospital once due to cross contamination & I would sometimes just get a filled up container of just corn or rice and sent on my way. After i filed a complaint, they were less careless with my food, and it did get a bit better. Staff were either really friendly, or really rude. Also no biodegradable/plastic free options for utensils and carry...
Read moreWouldn't let me watch the hurling. Only thing on the menu was something called "Grease Galore" which was a combination of minced meat, chips and cheese. Apparently it's inspired my "Chef Dan's recipe from the old country." It's disgusting. Wouldn't let me watch the hurling. I also find it really weird that "Mr Barry" from the nearby Graduate House us allowed to enforce his "no shoes, no socks" policy. Is this in place all over U of T? They wouldn't let me watch the hurling. Bike got stolen from the kitchen as...
Read moreOverpriced, inconvenient hours of operation, you get sick of the food by 2nd semester. To be fair, a lot of it is quite good but definitely not worth the price. Most of the staff is quite nice to talk to, but there are staff that are quite nasty towards customers. The waffles on weekends are awesome. Not enough vegan/vegetarian options most days. Unless you want to eat salad all...
