Our party of three arrived for our 5 pm reservation on a Friday. The first thing I noticed coming in was that the floors were slick. Turning the corner in my ankle boots, as well as leaving the establishment, proved tricky. It was my first day wearing them, so perhaps they needed breaking in, but walking outside posed no issue as well as being at work all day in them. The floors had underlying grease as though someone used the same mop to wipe the kitchen floors as the dining area, which would certainly have a different surface texture from each other. The mop should either be replaced or get two and relegate usage to certain areas.
The ladies' room needed ventilation as it had a muggy, gross smell, but the stall and toilet were clean.
I ordered the Asiago chicken with bow tie pasta, bacon, and mushrooms. Another member of our party ordered a burger with fries, and the third ordered a chicken meal with tons of veggies. Both the chicken meals tasted burnt, and you could clearly see it was scorched in places. The burger was underwhelming for the second guest as well. She said it may have needed more sauce. It certainly looked as though it could start a fire as she picked off the shredded lettuce piled on there to salvage some semblance of taste it may have been stifling. Her efforts were in vain, but we sent none of the plates back. Neither did we complain to the waiter as the place was becoming crowded, and our food took so long to come out the first time.
My blueberry cocktail wasn't nice either as it seemed to have a bitter, licorice taste, but the two shots put in two of our cocktails were nice and strong.
Overall, the dining experience left a bitter taste in my mouth, but the food there is sooooo cheap. I was happy to see that kind of bill for a change. We stayed after eating to talk, and our waiter checked on us twice. We told him we were fine. It wasn't until a silent bus girl came to remove our nearly finished and finished glasses that we got the hint they wanted us out. There was a handful of empty tables in the establishment, but we decided to cash out so that our waiter's shift wouldn't end before we could tip him.
Good location, but the chef needs to watch the food, and as Ramsay says, taste...
Read moreMy husband and I spontaneously visited this Jack Astors location yesterday to celebrate our wedding anniversary. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and seated immediately. Which was such a relief after the long day we had. The atmosphere was great and it wasn’t crowded at all. Shortly after sitting down, our waitress came and introduced herself. She was such a wonderful young lady, I’m sorry I already forget her name! She asked us if we were celebrating anything special & even brought a dessert on the house towards the end of our visit. It was such a simple yet sweet gesture that definitely caught me by surprise! She took the next step and made the whole experience perfect. Thank you again.
The food and drinks came out so quickly. I couldn’t believe it! I was expecting to wait at least 15-20 mins for our appetizer(lobster/crab dip), however that wasn’t the case. It came out in less than 10 minutes and it was hot/fresh. As for main courses, my husband finished his meal in no time (Grilled Cajun Salmon) & enjoyed the beer (Stella). I ordered one of my favourites, bow tie pasta and I had a frozen blue raspberry lemonade to drink. All were delicious & I would re order these items!
Even when our waitress was serving other tables, the other waiters/waitresses would pop in and ask us how everything’s going and if we’re okay. I admire that the staff support each other in that way. At other restaurants, you usually have to wait for your waiter to help you.. Everyone here was friendly and the vibes were great, we enjoyed our time and will definitely visit again. The food, drinks & most importantly the service was phenomenal. To say I’m “impressed” is an...
Read moreMade a reservation for 6:45. Was told table wasn’t ready when we arrived so we’d have to wait a bit. No problem, understanding it happens. But the family that arrived right behind us with a reservation for the same party size and time was seated immediately. Why?
Hostess probably noticed my irritation (although I didn’t say anything) and she asked whether we wanted a high table. “No,” I said since we specifically reserved a table.
We were seated a few minutes later but not greeted upon being shown the booth.
Server appeared after some time and asked what we wanted to order. No introduction. No niceties. We ordered our drinks and food.
Waited at least 10-15 minutes for drinks to arrive and some of the water was spilled.
Food arrived another 15 minutes or so later.
Server never came by to ask how the food is or to ask if we needed anything.
No offer of drink refills at any time. No one came by - period.
When we finished we asked for the bill. Didn’t want to hang out longer than necessary given the barebones service.
We’ve been here numerous times and I must report that the service level has steadily declined each time. WE will go elsewhere next time.
By the way, the booth we were sat at had a massive tear in the upholstery. If you can’t take care of the little details then it...
