An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Jack Astor's, the atmosphere captivated us. It wasn't just a restaurant; it was a delightful visual experience, a feast for our senses even before we tasted the food.
The decor, a blend of modern and vintage, had us lost in admiration. With an eye for detail, we noted the vintage frame that held a sense of charm and history. It was a testament to Jack Astor's timeless appeal, a nod to the past while embracing the present.
Drawing our eyes upward, the coloured ceiling lights were an absolute spectacle. Nil, in particular, was enamoured by them. The lights cast a warm, magical glow, creating a cosy and inviting ambiance. This sense of comfort translated into our drinks - a tasteful Gim and Coke, and a Caesar that were as colourful as the lights above. Each sip was a symphony of flavours, the drinks expertly crafted, boasting a savoury balance that left us wanting more.
As for the food, it was a gastronomic delight. The chicken fingers were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, each bite a testament to the chef's skill. The salad, fresh and vibrant, offered a delightful contrast. Nil's steak was a carnivore's dream, cooked to perfection, the flavours rich and robust. Each dish reflected Jack Astor's commitment to quality, the ingredients fresh and the presentation appealing.
But what truly set the experience apart was our server, Michelle. She was a bundle of energy, her personality as bubbly as the champagne they serve. Her service was impeccable, making our dining experience smooth and memorable. She was attentive without being intrusive, ensuring we had everything we needed and more.
In a world where dining out has become commonplace, Jack Astor's at Sherway Gardens stands out. It is not just about food and drinks, it's about creating an experience - a blend of ambiance, excellent cuisine, and warm service. This is more than a restaurant; it's a place where memories are made, and we are eager...
Read moreCalled ahead to ask if they were playing the World Cup qualifiers match and they told me they were. When I came in I asked the host if they could seat us near a tv to watch the game, they said they had the perfect spot and proceeded to sit us in front of a tv for baseball and their Tuesday night trivia. I then asked our server to change the channel to the game as that’s why we came. After 20 mins she came back and said they couldn’t because of trivia (that no one was playing). I then asked about the other tv which had baseball because no one was watching it, I explained to her I called ahead for the game and that’s why we came. My friend also joined us at this point and was told they were playing the game on another channel but it wasn’t what we were looking for. After another 20 mins waiting to see if they had the game, I asked a manager who was standing if they were able to put it on. I was given a dirty and dismissive look as they said they were looking for the channel yet two managers were just standing side by side so I’m not sure who was looking. Then the server came and said they didn’t have that channel. Also, my friend was never asked what she wanted to drink so she was just sitting there. All of this would have been understandable if I was not given the incorrect information in the first place and if the managers were apologetic. The server didn’t do anything wrong although it was taking her awhile to get these answers but I do think that was the management. We weren’t offered anything further or any condolences and overall it just wasn’t a pleasant experience. We asked for our bill which also took some time because honestly we just wanted to leave. While we paid the server asked if we were going somewhere else and if we knew where else the game was playing. Just disappointed in the lack of empathy and...
Read moreWe've been going here for lunches and dinners since shortly after we moved in to the area 15 years ago. It used to be excellent until they started playing the music at ear-splitting volume. Then our visits became less frequent and we'd plan to go when it wasn't at it's busiest. But the food was still good and so was the service. Yesterday we stopped by for a late lunch. The staff are still friendly and attentive - but MY GAWD - what's happened to the food!!?? It was TERRIBLE, INEDIBLE - and I would have felt much better if I hadn't tried. I ordered chicken quesadillas and Caesar salad. How badly can you screw THAT up? Well, pretty badly, as I found out. My husband ordered ribs and fries. He asked for sauce on the side as he doesn't like his meat floating in sauce (as per normal with the ribs there). Even though the ribs were overcooked and dry - he was hungry, so he ate them. As for the fries. . . being I'd left more than half of my meal on the plate, I decided to have a couple of his fries. They were so horrible that I felt my gums burning from the salt. I would have preferred (and so would my husband) that there was more potato on the plate than salt. That wasn't the case. The staff were so polite when they asked how the food was and we told them it was horrible. The lady came back and gave us a coupon for a free appetizer when we returned. I told her we couldn't be returning, and I left the coupon on the table. Surely to heaven - when you're being asked to pay a hundred bucks for lunch you should be able to eat what's put in front of you. I felt sick for hours! Overall I'm giving the place one star - just to get the review posted. However, you can't enjoy the atmosphere or the staff when you're being fed something that I...
