Jonny’s is a well established Toronto burger joint that has been around since the late sixties. What makes this place unique in a that it has not changed all the much since that time period. It is a classic “burger joint” and that’s rare in a city like Toronto because burger joints don’t last and or stand the test of time. This place is different. The menu is simple. Burgers, fries, hotdogs, steak sandwich and souvlaki. Fountain pop is offered as a beverage. I grew up in the area so there’s a ton of nostalgia associated with this place. In fact it’s quite common to witness father and mothers introducing their young family to this place. As for the food, a burger and fries with gravy combo is my go to. For burger toppings, it’s the usual suspects - ketchup, relish, mustard, onions and fried onions. And that is what makes this place so cool and unique. Despite all of the industry trends and changes to the fast food world, these guys have never deviated. They serve up a non-pretentious burger and fries combo and an incredible price. If you’re looking for a high end burger with top quality meat and garnishes this is not that place. If this is what you’re after go to the Cactus Club. If however you want to take a trip back through time and eat a burger off the hood of your car or pop the hatch on your SUV and have a quick meal in the parking lot…much like the days of the old drive ins then you will not be dissapointed. There’s a reason why this place has been around since the sixties and the ownership still lies within the family. If none of this makes sense, have a look at the 1970s video on YouTube for: The Olympia Restaurant: Cheesburger, Chips and Pepsi. The late John Belushi, Dan Akroyd, and Jane Curtain, Bill Murray and Gilda Radner. In the 80s Johnnys was very much like the skit they portrayed. This is a Toronto landmark located north of the city. Plenty of parking. If you live in Toronto, you must try this place at least once in your life.

Update: included menu pics to reflect current pricing so there are no surprises on arrival (and me absolutely destroying a double banquet meal in my backyard lel) Previous version (more like poetry in motion): You’re visiting for the taste but also to give your kids a glimpse of your childhood and how things like a good ol’ burger shop used to run in North America back during the much glorified 80s! You’re there for the experience which includes a bit of food and ambience both Johnny’s is delicious! Johnny’s is historic! Johnny’s is nostalgic! Most importantly, Johnnys will give you the best bang for your buck in the price range it offers given the burger sizes are comparatively massive to other fast food joints like A&W, McDonald’s, BK etc! It will put competition to a shame! I worked with a family owned burger store back in Melbourne, Australia, and have a bit of an idea about how to do charcoal burgers right. Johnnys does it pretty well however I do feel the patty could be thicker! Buns are massive and so are the overall burgers. Go for it. No regrets in the price they are offering! Cost me $28.35 for 2 banquets + vanilla milkshake + Coke Zero + fries + gravy No credit/debit ATM machine on site No dine in Drive in: yes 2 benches secretly placed on the drive out bin the back (see if you can find them)

*CASH ONLY!! No debit or credit available, it's a local business. Great burger place with a good reputation in the neighborhood. They do a great burger tthick large patty & fresh bun. You have options like cheese and bacon, they also have poutine, fish & chips ($15?) etc. The price is very reasonable for a regular burger $6 +tax you can customize the toppings to your liking with condiments & veggies (cooked onions 🍅 lettuce). The staff are super friendly & helpful, the menu is on the wall & you are given a number for your order pick up. Be forewarned they do have line ups regularly, it might be 5-10 minute wait. These burgers are made fresh, nothing sitting around. The fries are crispy & not too oily. Lots of parking around the building, only issue is exiting gets complicated. It's near the intersections of Victoria park & Shepard so you can only go north in VP or through the Shoppers Drug Mart lot & go east on Sheppard, as you're not allowed to take a left turn. You can park in the stripe mall next door for more options. There are many fast food places if you want dessert like the Greek café or a special drink from starbucks.

Johnny's Hamburger in North York, Toronto, is a hidden gem for burger enthusiasts! I recently had the pleasure of indulging in their mouthwatering hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and steak sandwiches, and the experience was nothing short of delightful. The quality of the ingredients is top-notch, and the portions are generous, making it an excellent value for the price.

What sets Johnny's apart is the option for customization. You can tailor your order with selective toppings like fresh tomatoes, onions, or opt for the delectable roasted onions. This level of personalization ensures that each burger suits your taste perfectly. The outside benches provide a charming setting for those who want to savor their meal on the spot, and the quick, ready service is ideal for those on the go.

Don't miss out on trying their fries and onion rings—they complement the burgers perfectly and are equally delicious. The overall experience at Johnny's Hamburger is a winning combination of great quality, good portions, and reasonable prices. Whether you're in the mood for a quick takeout or a leisurely tasting session, Johnny's Hamburger is a must-visit spot for burger aficionados in the North...
