TLDR; Overall, I’d recommend you spend your $35 elsewhere for a few shakes and a soft serve. This place isn’t worth your money in this economy.
I’ll paint you a picture of how my first visit to this establishment went during a slow Saturday night on August 3 around 10 pm.
You’ll see about 4 teenagers, braces leaning over the till. Looking bored but also not in the mood to answer questions or even say hi to 5 people who walked in for dessert.
I asked if the lime shake was available and also asked what was in it, I was given a smirk from “June” who found it humorous that I had asked a question about a menu item.
The five us getting stared at by some teens while only 2 were actually working.
We ordered 3 shakes and a cone, asking for revisions was met by an unnecessary amount of attitude from June and her male coworker (Lance) who felt the need to hover over her and look very closely at the till.
Once we sat down, you could observe these two co workers just hunched over the till and making fun of customers, rolling their eyes when people walked in and dragging their feet/laughing and making our group feel displaced.
It was my friend, and his sister who also picked up on the same vibe that these teenagers were outright rude.
Once we received our order from Angel (who was very sweet throughout this), we could observe that-she and Sarah were working while June continued to roll her eyes at a group of Muslim men, as well as another group of Desi’s. It was observed that she went above and beyond to be kinder to some white patrons in the 30 minutes we were there. An observation made by my friend’s sister.
At the end of our stay, we got their names and I’m glad I did. I don’t blame teenagers for hating their summer jobs/uniforms/ mundane tasks or duties or even waiting tables. My friend and I who came have been there and done that, but I would encourage cutting hours for your laziest and most unenthusiastic workers or to replace them with students who have a genuine work ethic or somewhat...
Read moreJohnny Custard Dessert offers a delightful retreat for anyone with a sweet tooth. Recently, I decided to drop by for a quick treat, opting for the strawberry and banana waffle and the Lotus Biscoff milkshake.
The strawberry and banana waffle was satisfying, featuring a generous topping of fresh fruit. The waffle itself was perfectly soft, providing a light and fluffy base that complemented the natural sweetness of the strawberries and bananas. Each bite was a delightful mix of textures and flavors, making it a pleasant choice for a casual dessert.
However, the true star of the visit was the Lotus Biscoff milkshake. This drink was a revelation, balancing flavor and sweetness with finesse. Unlike some overly sweet milkshakes, this one had just the right amount of sweetness, allowing the unique taste of the Biscoff to shine through. Its creamy texture and rich flavor profile made it a standout offering, leaving a lasting impression.
The ambiance at Johnny Custard Dessert was welcoming and perfect for a laid-back dessert experience. The staff was friendly and efficient, ensuring that the service matched the quality of the food.
Overall, Johnny Custard Dessert is a great spot for anyone looking to indulge in quality treats. While the waffle was enjoyable, the Lotus Biscoff milkshake was an absolute must-try. I look forward to returning and exploring more of their menu. Whether you're a dessert enthusiast or just in need of a sweet pick-me-up, Johnny Custard Dessert is sure to...
Read moreVisited this establishment around the late evening, found it had a nice chill vibe. Music was my taste R&B and Blues, space was plenty. I arrived with my significant other and we were seated at a booth near the window, this added to the chill late night vibe. The venue is spacious, could be because of the time of day, but wasn’t too busy.
Service overall was great, staff were friendly, honest and attentive to our needs and finished plates. Only thing was the table wasn’t cleaned earlier and was cleaned while we were sitting, which is a bit gross when you consider the wiping of crumbs from the table unto your lap.
Food was tasty. I ordered the Custard Treat Crepe with the Lotus Biscoff Shake and my partner had the Mixed Fruit Waffle with Chai Tea in the picture. I wish the crepe was bigger, but it was good enough to consider an encore. The waffle was delightful and fruits were fresh. The chai tea was a nice light milky touch to waffles and the Biscoff shake added to my crepe sweet tooth.
The menu is quite expansive and you have many options to choose to order. Took some time for my partner and I to order, but I like options to come back to later. Aside desserts, they have hot foods like pizza and poutine. You can also order take-out desserts too. Overall, I would recommend you visit because I’ll definitely be coming back...
