My bf and I came here around 8pm yesterday for the first time and despite this place having glowing reviews we were very disappointed. The food was awful. Especially the sushi. I consider myself a sushi connoisseur and travel to many different cities and towns all over to find the best sushi and this has got to be the worst sushi I have ever eaten. I’m genuinely not trying to bash the restaurant but omg it was awful. I ended up getting sick afterward which I knew the moment I took my first bite of the spicy salmon roll that it would make me ill. The fish was not fresh, tasted like it was days old, discoloured, very fishy odour almost rotten. The fish was chewy and dry and had a sourness to it. I could not eat it was so god awful. I’m not too picky when it comes to sushi and even if it’s not my favorite or best quality I will still eat it but this is the worst sushi I ever had and that’s speaking volumes. I had to tell the server and ask when the got their order for the fish. The server told me they usually get the salmon in the morning but the snapper sushi is from frozen. I asked if it could be due to improper storage if the fish was close to something that was hot or could spoil faster. The fish in the rolls were very hot and it’s not from the rice like she claimed because the rice was cool. Other things to note about the food: -The edamame was over cooked. -The nori in my roll was chewy I could barely bite it I had to gnaw through it with my teeth. -The meat that my bf ordered was tiny, bland, and they do not offer any seasonings other than seasoning salt and a homemade bbq sauce. Overall it was a complete waste of money to spend $97 on AYCE for 2 people not even having any drinks.

Update: Third time visit ruined every positive feedback I have to give. A female server traded in our Groupon instead of confirming it resulted in a huge issue because the voucher was no longer available for use. After showing them the confirmation email and even with the female server admitting fault, a male server, tallish/lanky who was unbelievably rude claimed we never purchased the voucher even when looking at the confirmation email from Groupon. Worse still, when I was explaining that's how Groupon works, he was confrontational to me. What a joke. He spoke in Mandarin thinking I wouldn't understand him. Calling paying customers a liar is not customer service. The female server who made the initial mistake was apologetic but the male server acted like he wanted to fight. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Despite my previous experiences here, it's unbelievable how immature and rude the male server was. To be clear, I had nothing but praise in my prior visits. As a customer I am not hard to please which you can easily verify from my other reviews. I maintain that they have great sushi but the wait staff is not enough to compensate for that. My previous experiences: Definitely a great place for all you can eat KBBQ and sushi! I would argue their sushi is better than many places in Toronto (it's the way they make their rice)! I felt their sushi was better than the meats for their KBBQ. Staff was very friendly and food was great. It's a little bit pricy but you get two different kinds of cuisine in one setting!

We found this gem when we were simply googling for ‘bear Korean bbq in Toronto’. After reading the reviews and looking at the pictures we decided to embark on our small journey to downtown Toronto. We almost walked past the place because ‘Kasai’ wasn’t written in English but we knew the address and found it easy enough. Once we got in, it wasn’t too busy, maybe the rush had just left. The service was one of the best I’ve ever received in any ‘Asian style restaurant’ The server was attentive, gave suggestions, and was quick to refill anything we asked for. The food itself was very flavourful. My particular favourites were the beef, lamb, sausage, and the enoki mushroom wrapped beef. However it doesn’t end with the meats, they also have dim sum AND sushi! We had the kasai roll, and honestly I would have eaten more sushi if I could but there was so much to try I had to limit myself. All the meats and food we tried were well seasoned And to top it all off, they had delicious homemade bbq sauce that just gave the food an extra kick in flavour. We are planning our next trip here already. It’s on par with any ayce Korean bbq place you’d find in Scarborough, and for the amounts of options it’s definitely worth it!

Do not let the great reviews fool you, this place is horribly run. I was looking forward to visiting Kasai Grillhouse since the reviews were great. These are the issues we had: *No management working on a Sat night *Only three staff on- two were new, and one was experienced. *No crowd control, they allowed younger patrons to stand in the restaurant carrying on without a word *15 minutes between orders, had to flag down staff each time and wait 15 minutes for the order *Customers waited at the door for 30 minutes before leaving, multiple people left. In 30 minutes I counted approx. 10-15 people leaving the establishment because they were not even greeted let alone seated *2-3 tables AT LEAST were observed to be VERY unhappy and waiting long periods of time for service. One customer had to get her own water. *Food was meh. I actually didn’t get to order as much as I wanted since it took way too long to receive food. Not worth the money.

This was our experience: Arrived at 7:30. Three people are working. Wait approximately ten minutes to be seated. Get seated, write down our order. We wait another 15 minutes for someone to come and grab the order, which was fine by my standards… it’s Saturday night. The night gets worst, at the front of the restaurant there are 25ish, 17-20 year olds that all know each other seated at three tables across… and “away” from each other. During our first round, they were obviously very loud but then moved table to table. Annoying but still ok. Between rounds we wait 15 minutes, the staff did not check up on us- we had to flag the down each time. For the last 30 minutes of our meal it was probably the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Just imagine your local fast food joint at 2:30am during the bar rush. This was the scene. People waiting at the door, no one greeting them, 10-15 walked in then left. Some of the 17-20 year olds decided to pay, which resulted in a gaggle of loud teenagers walking up and down past our table “carrying on.” At one point there was 20 of them just standing around in the restaurant. No crowd control whatsoever, none of the staff said “move along- either leave or sit down” nope, it was a total circus, piggy back rides and all. Were we in a bar or a restaurant? Am I just showing my age and I’m intolerant to today’s youth? Was it 2:30am already? Nope, only 8:00 in the evening and we’re supposed to be eating at a restaurant not a bar/night club. In the end, we wanted to leave so badly that we ended our meal as quickly as possible- not ordering more like we wanted. We left from an all you can eat establishment, still hungry. We spoke to the staff and found that two of their staff were new, only one was experienced out of three who was working that night. Where was the management? I am actually appalled that management would allow their staff to go through this. I would assume Fridays/Saturdays are your busiest days, the most rowdy… shouldn’t you have management on staff on these nights to handle these things? It’s not in the wait staff’s job description to crowd control a bunch of patrons, whether it was the teenager customers, the customer standing at the door waiting, or the angry tables that were waiting an excessive amount of time. Especially, if two are new to the job. I know I say that someone should’ve said something to every one standing in the restaurant, and to those who were not paying that were walking back and forth but the real issue is lack of management to handle this situation. I will not be returning to Kasai Grillhouse. I am very disappointed on how it ended up because I really did look forward to the experience being a positive one. Not worth your...

MEAN AND FEELS EVEN RACIST! DON'T GO. I will give some objective reasons below. Truly one of the worst places I've gone to, here's why. (Don't go especially if you are Asian, do not support their racist philosophies)

Service: super mean, due to common experience, the waitress felt like those racist Asians (whom are racist toward other Asians, for example the common canto vs mando Chinese, not necessarily this case, but as an example) . Gave me attitude from the moment I stepped in despite not saying a single word. I also do not have any accent and local grown. I remained polite, they, or at least the server(s) do not deserve it. Funny thing is she had an accent..and no, I'm not one of those "wow they spoke in an accent or in terrible grammar, such terrible service!!" It wasn't the lack of communication skills. She was straight up rude, degrading, and despicable.

Taste: Sushi very below average in terrible quality (rice was frozen and super hard, not that sticky either, the taste is also...interesting to say the least) Was changed $8 for not finishing their terribly non-fresh sushi. I paid. Because didn't want to deal with the extremely racist and rude server.

As for meat, it is decently good. Is it amazing? Nope. Are there better competitors at the same price that consumers can go to at no switching cost? Yes. Lots.

I've never gone here before, my friend told me that he came here before and had a terrible experience, but I was in the area so I asked him where I can get sushi. He hesitantly informed me of this place but would not recommend, and actually recommended me a burger joint. I should have listened. I don't think I'll ever want to come here ever again.

Asians are so strange. We are so racist toward ourselves. What a pathetic experience and terrible representation...
