My father and sister visited this location last Friday. My sister has a disability and English is not my father's first language and the way they were treated by staff is absolutely appalling. When they first entered the store they were immediately yelled at by one of the workers, who told us to 'get out' because there were already three customers in the store. His demeanor was very rude from the beginning. They waited outside for over five minutes and went in once the other customers left. My father asked for a dozen doughnuts and had my sister pick out the ones she would like. She pointed at two doughnuts that were at the very top right corner (closest to the cash register), the worker started to pull the tray out to grab the doughnuts but then quickly slammed the tray back. He said, "which one," in a rude tone so my father pointed at the top and the worker responded, "Read the name." My father told him he couldn't make out the name because the label had 'Krispy Kreme" in big bubble letters and his eyesight is not the best. The worker responded "Read carefully" in a rude tone and again my father explained that he could not see it to which he responded, "Read carefully means you read it carefully". This was completely condescending and unnecessary. My father asked to be served by the other worker who standing and watching the situation. The first worker started grumbling and my father said he did not appreciate how he was being treated. My sister was getting upset so she made a noise and twitched (this is a part of her disability she is not able to control these twitches and does not like tension). The worker made a mocking face to his coworker in response to my sister's tics. My father saw the mocking face he made and asked "what was that?" and my father told him that she has a disability. He did not even apologize but continued to be rude and my father asked for the manager. Both workers fumbled and were hesitant to give any information. My father repeatedly asked them and they said that the manager wouldn't be in. They continued to give him a hard time so he just bought the doughnuts and left. We will not be returning to Krispy Kreme again. On the Krispy Kreme website, it states you create a space of accessibility and inclusivity but this experience was far from that. Where was the accessibility for individuals with visual impairments or individuals with reading disabilities? Where was the empathy was someone with developmental delays who has communication impairments as well as tics? The behavior of this employee was beyond inappropriate it was hateful and cruel. He was giving them a hard time from the moment they walked in. Then to mock someone with a disability... is absolutely disgusting. On top of all this, trying to actually get in touch with the manager is impossible. We have left several messages since last Friday and no one returns the calls. We called this morning and as the phone was ringing someone picked it up and hung up the phone. When we tried calling back it said the line was busy (probably because they left the phone off the hook). This whole experience is absolutely appalling no one should be treated like that. (For clarification: I am writing this review as dictated...
Read moreWOW!! The level of Customer Service is absolutely horrible. Shockingly terrible. Its 2021! I'm giving KK a Google rating of 2 Stars due to the fact the donuts were good as always. But the Service level is atrocious. When we walked in (after waiting in line 25 minutes outside), there was no acknowledgment of our presence- let alone a friendly greeting upon entry. No personality at all from the male server behind the counter. Its like we were bothering him with our order. Upon our selections, he processed the sale without a word. No thank you or reply when i myself stated: Thank you.
If you do not like your job or tired- quit. No one is asking you to be there if you do not want to be. OR, if you do not wish to deal with customers or having a bad day yourself, switch your position with one of the other 3 ladies that was working the shift today and work behind the scenes. Anyone else's level of service would have been better than the service my wife and i received.
There is an ongoing pandemic in which thousands/millions of people have lost their jobs and countless businesses are struggling/going out of business with their doors being forced to close. Krispy Kreme, with always huge lineups outside their doors, are at least still busy and making revenues during these most difficult times.
If the staff do not seem to appreciate that and value/respect their customers, they will not be in business much longer either. I will never give my business to this store again and will seek out other KK locations for my donut cravings. My wife, who is probably the sweetest lady on the planet, was also truly astounded by the terrible customer service and actually encouraged me to write this review (though i did not need much prodding tbh). If you check my many other Google Reviews, this is by far the worst rating (2 stars) i have ever given a restaurant or service. It is duly justified. Again, the donuts were good as always. The Service was another matter all together....
Update October 2024:
Krispy Kreme never disappoints! Their donuts are consistently fresh, warm, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Whether you’re a fan of the classic glazed or enjoy trying new flavors, Krispy Kreme always delivers on taste and quality.
What made my recent visit even more special was the amazing service from Mayou and Ivan. They were incredibly friendly, efficient, and made sure my order was perfect. Their positive attitudes and attention to detail made the experience even better. Much better than my previous KK experience. It seems the customer service is much better!
If you’re looking for delicious donuts and outstanding customer service, Krispy Kreme is the place to go....
Read moreI recently visited the Krispy Kreme Café located just behind Mount Sanai Hospital on McCaul St, and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. While the location is incredibly convenient, and my kids absolutely love Krispy Kreme, we were shocked to find out that this particular store only carried five different types of donuts.
Having visited other Krispy Kreme locations in downtown Toronto, we were expecting a wide variety of donuts to choose from. But to our surprise, even though this location was significantly larger than others we've been to, the selection was severely lacking.
To make matters worse, when we got home and tried one of the donuts, we were disappointed to find that it wasn't even fresh. We were shocked that a well-known chain like Krispy Kreme didn't have any quality checks in place or bothered to offer their customers more options.
Overall, while the location of this Krispy Kreme Café is very convenient, the lack of donut variety and poor quality left a bad taste in our mouths. I hope that Krispy Kreme takes note of these issues and makes the necessary changes to provide their customers with the high-quality and diverse selection that we've come to...
