Taisho Japanese Grill, located near St. Patrick Station, offers a tabletop BBQ dining experience. Their food offerings were delicious with some select highlights like "sushi" offerings and well-marinated meat options. They offer a room for large groups but lack organization. They have a speedy input ordering system via a staff member and quick service! Recommended to go with 6 or less or potentially required to share the "room".

Navigating the menu is made convenient through QR code scanning, though orders still require manual input by a waiter. From the menu, there are great options like the marinated beef short rib, prime beef kalbi, miso beef brisket, pork sausage, salmon, butter corn, and enoki mushroom. The "hand rolls" were not the traditional rolls but more of a taco-type assembly. The Salmon Ikura Bowl is tiny but flavourful with a raw egg. The Hawaiian Poke Bowls were filling. Desserts vary each time we go, the cream brulee is inconsistent, which reminds us of egg tart or could be done correctly. Also, they offer Häagen Dazs ice cream bars, lifesavers or a mini ice cream cone.

It's worth noting that Taisho exclusively accepts cash (with a discount) or debit, with no option for credit card payments. The restaurant space is well-suited for smaller groups of six or fewer, with individual unisex bathrooms located downstairs and in the back. Reserved groups who arrive early may be suggested to wait in the Charidise upstairs area. Note: Charidise offers cooked meals and has no grills.

Reservation-wise, we've had two different experiences with groups of 8 or more. Upon arrival for an 8 pm reservation, some of our party members arrived as early as 7:45 pm. However, the staff's reluctance to expedite the turnover process can make the reservation process cumbersome, as we only got our table closer to 8:20 pm. Their "room" is a slightly open space that offers groups of about 16 people with four grills that span two tables. If you have a group of 8, they also use the same "room" and share the space with another table. This setup for larger groups can be confusing, with limited tables and potential food delivery mishaps as this room still orders to the...

Venturing out for an early year-end gathering with friends, we chose Taisho Japanese Grill as a relatively new spot in town, and it was a decision we didn't regret! The restaurant operates for both lunch and dinner, catering to a wide array of schedules and dining preferences. At Taisho, the variety of dishes is nothing short of impressive. They offer an extensive selection ranging from various cuts of beef, pork, seafood, to lamb. The inclusion of vegetables, poke, and handrolls adds a delightful variety to their menu. What I particularly appreciated was the seasoning -- the dishes were not overseasoned, allowing us to tailor each bite to our liking with an assortment of sauces like tare, cumin mix, and ssamjang. The side of kimchi added a kick, and the lettuce was perfect for wrapping up these flavorful morsels. The freshness and taste of each dish were remarkable, making every bite a joy. The pricing, at around $65 after tip and tax per person for AYCE Friday dinner BBQ and refillable soft drinks, felt just right given the quality and variety on offer. It’s a great deal for those looking to indulge in a feast without worrying about the bill skyrocketing with every order. Service at Taisho was another high point. The staff were fast, attentive, and remarkably consistent in maintaining the quality of service, even as we went through multiple rounds of ordering. It’s heartening to see a restaurant not just start strong but also maintain its momentum throughout the dining experience. The grill was also changed a few times. The ambiance of Taisho added to its charm. The restaurant is spacious and well-lit, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The cleanliness, especially in the washrooms, was commendable, reflecting the overall attention to detail. Would I go back? Absolutely, yes! If Taisho continues to uphold this level of service and quality, it's bound to become a regular spot for me and my friends. It's an excellent choice for anyone looking for a fulfilling Japanese BBQ experience with a great atmosphere and...

The food was great, honestly, the servers were great, but the manager was mean and rude and disrespectful. It’s AYCE, and I understand, my table was eating a lot, and they started loading our side dishes we rice instead of other stuff, but every time we ordered like 6 or 8 dishes or a type of meat, we would get half the amount. Also, the service was very very slow for our table (almost intentionally). And omg when we got to last call, we ordered our meats and everything. Not only did they halve the size of our meats order, but it took nearly 15-20 minutes to bring out the food, and the manager came out and said we need to eat faster and leave soon. How are we supposed to eat faster in the time limit, if you’re not going to give us the food. We need time to cook it, and we only had 2 grills (there were 11 of us). She kept pushing and rushing us and told us to use our other tables grill to cook faster (but we’re already using both so that’s not an option). The servers were so great but the manager ruined it all. Also, when it came time to pay, we were only supposed to be auto charged 15% tip for our group size, but they charged us 18% (which is the amount for the VIP room which they also refused to me), I said I didn’t want to pay this charge amount and I’ll only pay what were suppose to tip (15%). I know it may sound petty for only 3% but trying to rush someone out when withholding our food and still telling us to eat faster and leave is rude. It’s not like they had someone after us waiting for a table. Very very rude manager, otherwise the place is ok. If I could, I’d give the service -5 stars because of the manager. This was a birthday dinner and there was cake that was supposed to be to be a surprise. They asked the birthday boy (me) about bringing out the cake. Obviously ruined the surprise and wasn’t that apologetic about it. Idk, waiters and waitresses were great, but their manager completely failed the purpose of service and proper treatment when it comes to the...

There aren’t many JBBQ places in Toronto, so my friends and I decided to check it out! We all know its biggest competitor is probably gyubee, but I gotta say, this place beats it due to its variety. I was genuinely expecting a menu for meat, seafood, and some side dishes. But when I looked at the menu, there was so many things! They had noodle dishes, rice, dishes, sushi, even! They had a very extensive drink menu as well, and I’m not exaggerating it one bit. The quality of the food was pretty good, especially for the amount of variety you could get on the menu. Normally, the more extensive the menu is, the cheaper each food is, but it wasn’t the same for this place. The one thing you’ll get better as you eat there, is the grasp of portions. Know that the bowls of rice and noodles are pretty small, which is good because you don’t want to fill your stomach up too much. It’s all you can place for a reason. Make sure to get your moneys worth. The price is pretty good for an all you can eat place, but it’s still pretty expensive for a dinner on its own. So don’t fill up too much on things that you could get elsewhere, and other things that make a barbeque special. I highly recommend all the marinated meats, those are my favorite. I always suggest to get kimchi or something on the side just to freshen your pallet up once in a while. I got a bubble tea, but it’s what you expect, it wasn’t very good. The tea itself was all right, but the tapioca was very very small, and it’s probably a frozen pack. You don’t really have to talk to the service as much, but they’re very attentive. They come back pretty often to ask if you would like to order anything else. Atmosphere wise, I have not much to comment about. The design of the washroom was pretty new. It’s like a U-shaped thing- you’ll see what I mean. Otherwise it’s pretty constantly packed, especially with the online attention this place has been getting. I’ll definitely be back here with more friends, thank you for having me!
