My recent visit to Indraprastha was a bit of a mixed bag. Drawn in by a craving for Indian food, I was hopeful but found the experience had some highs and some notable lows. First impressions were a little off-putting. The front door was difficult to open due to what seemed like a negative air pressure issue, which should probably be addressed. Once inside, the dining room itself was clean and had a decent aesthetic. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, which was impressive. I started with the Guntur Chilli Chicken, which the server kindly warned me was spicy—a heads-up I appreciated. The dish arrived quickly, but it was just okay. While it had a good kick of heat, it lacked a deeper, more complex flavour, and the chicken itself had an inconsistent texture, with some pieces being tough and others tender. 5/10 For my main course, I ordered the Chicken Kadai. This was a definite improvement. The dish had a great blend of onion and spices, and the heat level was enjoyable and well-balanced. It was a flavourful and satisfying entree. 6/10 However, a major issue that took away from the dining experience was the numerous fly traps hanging from the ceiling throughout the dining room. This was a complete turn-off and made it difficult to fully enjoy the meal. Overall, the food was a decent experience, and the service was good. But the issues with the door and, most importantly, the presence of the fly traps, detracted significantly from what could have been a great meal. A few key improvements could elevate this restaurant from just "okay" to a truly enjoyable spot.

I had a very disappointing experience at Indraprasta Restaurant on Baldwin Street. I had ordered fried rice and dragon chicken in advance by phone. The fried rice was just average, but the dragon chicken was honestly one of the worst dishes I’ve ever been served. It tasted completely off and nothing like how dragon chicken is usually prepared. When I mentioned this to the server, instead of apologizing or offering to replace the dish, I was told “that’s how it’s served.” There was no attempt to make things right—no replacement, no refund, not even a simple “sorry.” That level of customer service is unacceptable. Also, there was no mention anywhere online that their dragon chicken is not made in the usual Chinese style, which feels misleading. If a dish is prepared in a very different way than what customers would reasonably expect, that should be clearly stated on the menu. I checked the review before going. The 4.6 review looks deceiving based on the actual food and service I got. Overall, very poor food quality and extremely disappointing service. I definitely would not recommend this place, especially if you’re expecting good Indo-Chinese food.

Visited this branch twice, definitely not making it to a third. Please note that the Toronto location is bad but the Indraprastha in Whitby is đŸ©·. To begin, we walked in to three tables that were still not cleared and dirty dishes lying on them. We were seated in the middle of these 3 tables. Our group was there for about 30-40 minutes and they STILL didn't clear the tables even at the time of us leaving. I doubt that's hygienic or even a welcoming restaurant atmosphere. Next, the food. The biryani was mediocre, but the Manchow soup I ordered (hoping to cure my sickly self) made me so disgusted (picture attached for reference). There were big , and I mean biig chunks of egg just floating in it and the flavour was so eggy and just...not right. I couldn't bring myself to take more than 5 mouths of it. I asked our waitress if that is how the soup is supposed to be and her answer was "yes". The buttermilk didn't have salt too. The servers were also not the friendliest or welcoming of faces but that's okay. Overall, we were not happy.

I recently visited this Indian restaurant and had one of the worst dining experiences ever. The atmosphere was very poor — it felt unwelcoming and uncomfortable. The customer service was absolutely unacceptable. No one checked on us even once; we had to wave the server down every single time just to get basic things like water or napkins.

We ordered several dishes — Paneer Butter Masala, Mutton Masala Curry, Crispy Corns, Raita, and soups — and almost everything was a disaster. Paneer Butter Masala was literally water with a few pieces of paneer floating in it. No richness, no taste — just disappointment. Mutton Masala Curry, which the server suggested as mild, was extremely spicy and hard to eat. Raita was nothing but water. I was dipping naan into it and it just soaked up like a sponge. Soups tasted like instant packet soups. Crispy Corns, which were supposed to be an appetizer, arrived halfway through our main course. When we asked the server why, his rude response was, “Oh, it takes time because we fry them — you should know that.”

On top of that, when I politely asked for a separate to-go container for naan (since my friend had put curry in the one we got), the server dismissively said, “That’s fine, put it in the curry bowl.” That attitude really summed up the service — careless and disrespectful.

This type of food quality and service creates a terrible reputation for Indian taste, Indian culture, and Indian hospitality. Indian cuisine is known for warmth, flavor, and care — none of that was reflected here. It’s sad because Canadian hospitality is actually wonderful; people here go out of their way to make guests feel welcome. This restaurant fails on every front and gives a completely wrong impression of what Indian food and service should be.

Overall, it felt like they just wanted us to leave — no quality control, no basic courtesy, and food that had no resemblance to authentic Indian taste. Totally not worth the money or time. I would never recommend this...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Indraprastha, an Indian fusion restaurant, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience. The cuisine at Indraprastha blends traditional Indian flavors with modern twists, making for a delightful culinary adventure.

Dishes Tried: I ordered the Boneless Chicken Biriyani and Veg Biriyani. Both dishes were exceptional. The Boneless Chicken Biriyani was flavorful and perfectly spiced, with tender pieces of chicken that melted in the mouth. The Veg Biriyani was equally impressive, with a rich blend of vegetables and aromatic spices that made it a hearty and satisfying meal.

Food Quality: The food quality was amazing. Each dish was beautifully presented and packed with authentic flavors that were both vibrant and balanced. The use of fresh ingredients was evident in every bite, making the meal truly enjoyable.

Service: The service at Indraprastha was great. The staff was attentive, friendly, and ensured that our food was delivered on time. Their professionalism and warmth added to the overall positive dining experience.

Overall Impression and Rating: I was thoroughly impressed with my experience at Indraprastha. From the delicious food to the excellent service, everything was top-notch. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy high-quality...
