La Diperie Bloor street — Restaurant in Toronto

Interesting place but I don't think I will be returning.

The ice cream was good. It tasted like normal soft serve, which is good! The dips for the ice cream were also very good (I had dark chocolate and it tasted good) and there seemed to be a good variety.

However, there were a few negatives: -First, the selection of other things was not great. This is fine if you only want ice cream but I went in the middle of the day and I was told they were sold out of the donuts and everything else. The only other choice is pre-made cheesecake factory cake in the fridge. -Second, the service is pretty slow. Again, not a huge deal, but not ideal on a busy day. The person working there was friendly though. -Third, and my main issue, is the portion size was extremely small. I got the medium, which was pretty expensive, and it seemed like the same size as a kid-size you might get at Tom's Dairy Freeze. To make things a bit worse, the inside was hollow. I was a bit disappointed by this.

So overall, not a bad place, but I think there is both better ice cream and better value out there.

Another strange thing about this La Diperie location is the sign out front says that it is also home to the LaFayette Cafe for french pastries and coffee--but none of those were present. The sign was put up at the same time as the La Diperie sign so I am not sure what it means--maybe it will arrive...

I went over on the weekend when the day was scorching hot. I had a gift card from La Diperie in hopes I was able to use it today.

I placed an order for a key lime flavoured and caramel pecan soft serve. The employee then started making my order, the moment he was making it, I had to reassure him if it was key lime and caramel pecan. He responded yes, but I still felt uneasy as the colour of the chocolate dip did not look like the flavouring I ordered. (1 red flag)

Once it was time for payment, I gave them my gift card and he responded how they do not accept gift card at this location……. This location is called La Diperie, it’s a franchised company… and u do they not accept YOUR COMPANY GOFT CARD? that’s absolutely wild. (2nd red flag)

When we started eating our chocolate covered soft serve, the employee making our soft serve made our ice cream incorrect when I FULLY re-assured him. My key lime pie that I ordered, was only white chocolate with graham crackers on it and the caramel pecan didn’t even have caramel OR PECAN…. (3rd red flag)

Not only did they not accept any gift card, they lied to me and made an incorrect order. Save your money and find another ice cream shop that actually serves the right order and cares for...

I had a really poor experience at this location bc the owner yelled at me.

I had asked the owner of the store if the dip he was giving me was dulce de leche dip and he confirmed it was even Though it looked like chocolate. After I ate the ice cream I realized there was no way it could be dulce de leche so I decided to ask him again. He proceeded to get defensive and yell at me in front of everyone. He asked me to come around the bar and he showed me the labels and embarrassed me in front of all the customers. I felt so poorly about myself afterwards I honestly didn’t understand why it looked like chocolate then he explained all dips are mixed with chocolate, which he didnt tell me at first. I didn’t like being yelled at like that, I approached him kindly with concerns, I am a young girl so that was really intense to be yelled at by a grown man. Really sad, I’ve never written a review before but that made me feel awful.

Update: After reading the other reviews it seems everyone is having issues with this older man the same way i did. I think his behaviour to myself and others is unacceptable, something needs to be done...
