I saw this place on social media and decided to check it out. I was surprised to find it in a strip mall of this kind... Reminds me a little of Pacific Mall, or at least that type of layout. To be honest, this little dessert shop seemed a little out of place (as well as the Boba Boy and sushi shop nearby). Service was quite friendly here as we were greeted quite instantly, told about current promotions, and offered adequate time to make a decision. Upon first impression, these aren't the most aesthetic donuts of their kind from what I've seen... But of course, the most important aspect is their taste and texture. It should be noted that this place pre-fries their donuts but then dips-to-order meaning that upon first receiving your treats, the glaze is very wet and sticky as they do not afford any time for them to harden before sending them off to the customer. Personally I wasn't a fan of this as it meant the donuts got easily ruined in transport and were also not optimal to eat right away. Speaking of the glaze, this was the most flawed part of the dessert since they were more sweet than flavorful. The cookie version was better as the crunchy Oreos afforded a contrast in texture, but the hazelnut version could have used a heavier coating of nuts for flavor. The best component of this was undoubtedly the mochi donut base itself as it was chewy, as promised, without being overly greasy. Bonus: you get 10% off Boba Boy after making a purchase here!

Yelp Elite week brings us to La Mochi, serving up Japanese Mochi donuts. This dessert shop is located in the Skycity shopping centre. There were plenty of parking spots. I was greeted by the store clerk who graciously offered assistance with selecting my mochi donuts. She asked if I like sweet or less sweet. I told her I liked both. There is a display case showing the various flavours available. I ordered black sesame, matcha and oreo, and cookies and cream for the Yelp Elite offer. I also purchased 3 more donuts at $4.25 each. The other flavours were chocolate, hazelnut, and coffee. There was nice decoration on two of the donuts to show Yelp Elite. Very nice touch. You can buy 6 mochi donuts for $25 tax incl or 12 mochi donuts for $45 tax incl. There are some special tea lover mochi donuts at $5 each. Earl gray, Milk tea, and Thai. I think if they offer some premium drinks like bubble tea they will definitely expand their reach in the market. Maybe I missed their drink menu. If you have sweet tooth and looking for something more fun and interesting to eat, then I totally recommend this place. Although the price may seem steep, you can definitely taste the difference from a regular donut. Thank you, Yelp Toronto - Janice, for organizing this event.

La mochi is a new mochi donut shop in Markham, they’re currently in soft opening inside a new mall. They’re building their presence on Instagram and Facebook where you can order for pick up. We were able to try their Sesame and Golden Strawberry which came with strawberry pocky bits on top. They were so good I went back for a half dozen. We ordered the half dozen ($22) with Double Shot Chocolate, Cookies & Cream, Black Sesame, Matcha & Oreos, Mango Mania, and Ube. They also gave me their plain donut to try with my order. The donut itself was absolutely delicious I think they should make an option to buy the plain ones. It’s very similar to a sweet and soft version of Chinese fried dough. As for the actual donuts, they probably have the most flavorful toppings I’ve had during the recent mochi donut craze. Each flavor tasted exactly as advertised. My favorite purely based on my preference had to be black sesame it was like a punch in the taste buds, I loved it. Everything else was equally as good overall. They also have cute candy toppings on some to make cartoon faces when they’re not paired with oreos or pockys as part of the flavoring. I thought this was a fun extra touch especially for pictures.

I don't intend to write a bad review but after today, I just lost my patience. I followed up today about a refund that I was expecting, it has been almost a week. So let me recap on what happened. On Mother's Day, the day of, they had called to notified me that they can't make the cake and will refund me but the mochi donuts would still be made. So at that point it was understandable because it's Mother's Day and they must be swamp. I came in around 1:45 PM hoping to have my order ready as I pre-ordered, cake is cancelled, and it's been paid. However as I got there, there was 3 people who were ahead of me and were STILL waiting for their orders. (Perhaps waited longer than an hour.) In the mist of it all, the cashier unfortunately looked lost, disorganized, and was too quiet to deal with customers.

So...an hour or so passed by, I was called over. Thankfully, the other lady called me over to explain about the refund that will eventually be made by the manager and the donut will be made coming right up. 2 hours passes by, I'm still waiting for my order along with those who were still waiting before me. Clearly the people who have waited came to communicate and complained about their terrible service.

The other two people ahead of us got their order but Janet was waiting way longer than I have, so I ended up vouching for us complaining and asked when and where was our orders going to be ready. At that point on I asked another staff, so she asked and looked. Then this lady stepped in who originally spoke to me about my refund assumed she gave me my order. Somehow she remembered that she gave it to me in my hand and argued with me about it. So here is my two cents: IF YOU GAVE ME THE BOX IN HAND, WHY WOULD I WASTED MY TIME TO WAIT EVEN LONGER JUST TO GET MY ORDER? Other customers around me can even witnessed that I DID NOT RECEIEVED ANYTHING IN HAND. I wouldn't have come and asked for NO DAMN REASON!!!! Also why would I want another box of these donuts? MAKES NO ABSOLUTE SENSE? I just wanted my damn order. I waited over 3 hours and it was a complete waste of my day.

So as for today, I followed up about my refund. This same lady AGAIN was so adamant about the situation and how she can recall giving me the order. This lady had the audacity to basically say that I'm lying. So let me make this clear. I DID NOT RECEIEVE THE DONUT FROM YOU, OTHERWISE I DON'T NEED TO BE WAITING FOR HOURS. I DON'T NEED TO WALK AWAY OR CHEAT YOU GUYS FOR ANOTHER SET OF DONUTS. THIS WAS A GIFT AND I JUST WANTED THAT ONE ORDER. I CALLED IN REGARDS TO THE DAMN REFUND, THE CAKE I DIDN'T GET. I AIN'T HERE TO TRY AND ARGUE ABOUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED THAT DAY. I MEAN IF YOU DO HAVE A VIDEO RECORDING, I'D BE GLAD TO GO OVER THAT AND HAVE YOU SEE FOR YOURSELF THAT YOU DIDN'T GAVE IT TO ME IN HAND. Oh wait, just seeing another person's review. There is a picture of me waiting WITH NO BOX IN HAND! FYI

SO FROM THIS POINT ON, I HOPE YOU GUYS LEARN TO BETTER ORGANIZE YOUR ORDER, SCHEDULING, AND COMMUNICATE WITH CUSTOMERS BETTER. I'M SURE AS HECK AS HELL THAT I WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE CUSTOMER WHO ANGRILY CALLED YOU GUYS OUT THAT DAY. I WAS SO PATIENCE WITH EVERYTHING UP UNTIL I WAS ACCUSED OF BEING CALLED A LIAR. I just want my refund and call it day. NEVER AGAIN WILL I WANNA GO BACK TO THIS PLACE! So to the manager who is supposed to contact me about the refund or do the refund, I'm...
