If you are tired of ordering the same old butter chicken, naan bread and lentil curry from your favourite Indian restaurant then this video is for you because, This is what you need to order when dining at an Indian restaurant!!! Okay, let’s get down to business! Welcome to Madras Masala where they specialize in South Indian cuisine so we are going to make sure to stick to the brief. The business has been around for just over 20 years and has been serving one of the most authentic South Indian cuisine in Toronto. Chef Damu, the owner and head chef has carefully curated each dish which will surely remind you of India. So to start with you are going to order the Paper Masala Dosa! Best way to describe this would be a savoury rice crepes with a potato filling, & just use your hands and dig in! Next up you need to order Mutton Pasantha which is basically mutton cooked in a creamy cashew curry and both these dishes are. Try mild & best way to have the mutton pasantha would be with Whole Wheat Paratha! If you want to turn things up then please order the Pody Idly, imagine rice cakes with some spicy goodness! & you need to order Chettinadu Biryani any meat of your choice, this definitely had some heat but if you can handle your ex you can surely handle this! To cool off, literally order any sweet but I opted for Malai Kulfi and this slapped! The food was bomb dot com!!! So please make sure you share this with someone you’d like to visit 😃 . . . 📍 @madrasmasala - 796 Bloor St W #1, Toronto, ON M6G 1L7 🤌🏽- Handsdown the best South Indian food I’ve eaten overseas! For an independent Indian restaurant, this is a safe bet. The palak paneer is really good. I wish there was an option to add spice that would compliment thus savory dish. Temperature of everything including Naan and rice was acceptable.

The service misses on certain spots. Could sell flat or sparkling instead of just tap water, cause when the average dinner cost $25 to $30 per, it adds to guest experience unless you know the guest, then there's different methods for regulars. The general attitude is passive and friendly so you won't receive any of that negative server guff for criticism at the table. They don't let you choose a table when there is ample spots and stuff you into tables in an area where everybody else is dinning (it's a small restaurant). The servers don't know how to break down bills for the tip (if you don't know how to break down $40 on a bill of $27 and change, you should be ashamed). Nobody should have to direct you for this because it is implied we need change unless directly stated by customer. There was a small error in refilling my Perrier with tap water and they immediately offered a new one, without missing a beat. When a drink is ordered with garnish, if you can't remember it, write it down.

Some of the dishes are plastic, and in a restaurant of this calibre I feel like that's a copping out on the experience. The dining room feel like a household that I grew up with that were Vietnamese, so very welcoming.

I would definitely return as it was a seemless exchange...

I used to love this restaurant but the last couple times I have ordered they have messed up my order I think there was a change in either ownership or management but not for the better. The second last time I ordered they gave me a wrong item…..fine I didn’t call or say anything but the quality of the food I got wasn’t as good as normal…..the food felt very rushed and watery. So then tonight I order skip the dishes (I gave them another chance) the food arrived they were missing the same item that they messed up on the previous time I ordered and didn’t say anything. I called the restaurant they told me they would replace the item for free and I was going to pick it up. Low and behold after I picked it up and got home it was the wrong item yet again…..when I called back they said they said they made a mistake yet again for a 3rd time……I am done with this place they need to get things in order and their food back to what it used to be ☹️……I would like to add to my review right now the owner just called me and rectified the situation it was a mistake by new staff I will give them another chance because there food is amazing and I have been a 10 year...

Madras Masala is my real good for South Indian flavours in Toronto! 🇮🇳 Loved the Chilli Egg Dosa, it was served hot and was super crispy. The Hyderabadi Chicken Curry was full of spice and flavour paired with Garlic Naan. The staff is friendly, the portions are great, and it honestly feels like a taste of Chennai right here in Ontario!

Madras Masala is a true gem in Toronto for authentic Indian cuisine! Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The dosa was light and crispy, with the Mysore Masala Dosa standing out for its spicy, tangy filling. The butter chicken was rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced, and the chicken mutter had such a delightful depth of flavor. The garlic naan was fluffy, buttery, and ideal for scooping up every last bit of sauce. The vegetable cutlets were crispy and packed with bold, savory spices—a great way to start the meal. We ended our feast with two incredible desserts: the malai kulfi and badam halwa. The malai kulfi was creamy, indulgent, and had a lovely hint of cardamom, while the badam halwa was warm, rich, and perfectly sweet with the nutty goodness of almonds. Both desserts were the perfect way to round out an already exceptional meal. The ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting, and the service was exceptional. If you’re craving South Indian specialties Madras Masala delivers a tasty experience. A must-visit for anyone in Toronto who loves Indian food!
