Went on Jan 22nd, and got busy so I forgot to post a review. I was by myself and got the luxury seafood set. I had some beef first before putting the seafood in then suddenly saw lots of small black stuff surfacing up, looking like bugs so I scooped some out and they were indeed (second picture). The picture just showed some that I scooped out, there were a lot more in the pot. I talked to the staff, and they didn’t apologize or anything at first, just changed the soup base cause I mentioned it only happened when I started cooking the seafood. I asked to switch to the premium set since I hadn’t even eaten any seafood yet, and did not feel comfortable with eating them anymore. They said they couldn’t void the item to make the change, their manager would ask about it… then didn’t charge me for the soup base and gave me 10% to make up for the difference. The restaurant also has auto grat. The whole night I felt ignored, I would have to ask for attention to order even though I sat in the middle of the restaurant, and the server only apologized when I was paying. I didn’t leave nor make a scene cause I worked in the industry when I was young and servers looked like not sure what to do or to say. But it is not an excuse for food safety/ quality and poor service. Autograt might be the reason why staff doesn’t care about service anymore cause they’d get the same amount regardless (they enter the total themselves, you cannot adjust to a higher % if you want to). Posting this for everyone to be aware of and for the restaurant to review their quality and service. I’m not looking for anything since I won’t be coming back. It’s unfortunate cause I did enjoy the soup base and premium beef was good.

There’s nothing more suitable for a cold winter day than the hotpot, especially this AYCE Sukiyaki hotpot! It’s the second day since their official opening, booked the table one day in advance for 1130 on their website but received a text message this morning saying that the restaurant actually opens at 12 so they delayed our reservation, which is ok but still hope they can update the booking system. Arrive at 12 but they couldn’t find my reservation, had to show them the text message received and the receptionist called the owner (i think) for confirmation and finally been able to get seated lol. Now back to the menu the food itself, we ordered the $59 Luxury Seafood Set AYCE which is their top tier set that includes almost all foods, but you will still need to pay for the broth of the hotpot which is around 20 dollars (I don’t like this extra charge on the broth), and we also ordered the wagyu for around 13 dollars which is not included in any set. We ordered the two-flavored broth with traditional Sukiyaki broth and beef bone broth. We all think it totally worth the upgrade from the $34 Premium Set to the $59 Luxury Seafood Set, their seafoods are just so so so good, the shrimp paste, the bass slices, the jumbo oysters (literally jumbo), the snow crab legs, the abalone, the jade whelk, all just so good, everything is fresh, tastes so good, we kept ordering these seafoods, it’s just so satisfying. Other than the seafoods, we also love the lamb shoulder slices, very delicious. Overall the experience is exceptional, will definitely visit regularly as long as they keep the quality of food at this level.

Happy to have a new sukiyaki place easily accessible downtown! Food: A wide selection, decently fresh and fairly consistent (there were a few times where the onsen egg was too under). You can select to have more premium meat or seafood for an added cost per person. I think the premium meat upgrade is well worth it, as the regular menu is a bit lacking, and don’t have the cuts that I’d prefer. We got the luxury seafood this time and really loved the jumbo oysters, luckily the snow crab legs are available as well. Similar to hotpot, you have a sauce station and can make your own—onsen eggs, raw eggs, ponzu sauce, cilantro, etc. are all available. Their other self service station holds a small selection of cakes and cut fruits, additional to their menu desserts. Service: Very quick, although when we went they weren’t busy, so could be skewed. Enthusiasm wasn’t always universal but all the waiters we had are quick to clear plates and place orders. Atmosphere/Cleanliness: Nicely and newly renovated, including the bathroom downstairs. Some details could be done better—bathroom has a slight damp smell not unfamiliar in downtown shops and the sauce station dishes weren’t always completely clean. Relatively minor things. Given the location there’s the usual crowd of students, surrounding residents. Price: It’s priced similar to other hotpot/sukiyaki locations, cheaper on weekdays vs weekends. I’d definitely come back for weekday lunches on their premium menu or do seafood luxury set for dinner.

They gotta have fake 5 star reviews. This place does not deserve such a high rating anymore. Here is a list of problems my family had.

  1. the crab was extremely salty to the point I had to spit it out. There was also no tools to Crack it open so I asked for a scissor and they gave me a regular scissor that was not food safe. There were disgusting hair like strings on the blade.

  2. udon noodles were not fresh, it was frozen. For a place that cost $320 for 4 people i didn't expect this.

  3. when asked for a spoon they gave us a small plastic spoon and would not be safe to use in the boiling hot pot.

  4. women's bathroom has a sizeable leak on the ceiling and it dripped on my mom while using the rest room

  5. men's bathroom has only 1 stall and 1 urinal but the 1 urinal was blocked off in a garbage bag. Which increased waiting time.

  6. Meat were cut extremely thin.

  7. There were bugs flying around and seeing that other reviews talked about seeing bugs in their food cleanliness is questionable.

  8. the sauce options are limited compared to other places.

  9. servers didn't seem too knowledgeable about their food as much as other restaurants at this cost. When asked what is something on their menu the staff said "I dont know" forcing me to Google it myself. Usually im ok with this but again at this price I expect the staff to be able to explain.

  10. desert matcha ice cream tastes blend and we went to another Matcha place instead afterwards.

Save your money and go somewhere else. Toronto has other delicious hot pot...
