As a Chinese "greasy spoon" it's just ok.
The Cantonese chow mein was the best dish. They didn't use oyster sauce as the base sauce (crappier places drown dishes in oyster sauce to hide problems)
Unfortunately that was the only good item on the menu.
The rice noodles dishes were so over-handled they came out as tiny shreds (used a spoon)and the satay beef lacked the satay flavour.
The hot & sour soup and the rest of the dishes like the pork chop & onion on rice, or the tofu with veg were just bland.
Update
They've improved several dishes.
The Hot & Sour soup packs plenty of flavour and actual bits of veg and chicken. Previous version was mostly liquid. In fact, this is the only chicken version I like from any restaurant so far.
The pork chop and onion now flavours the dry coating as well as the sauce. I think they also changed the dry coat as it held together longer in the fridge. (Yeah, I like to 'test' food that way)
Had to give them back a star for this.
Will probably try other dishes.
update end
Otoh the dishes were cheap.
Will return again for just chow mein and will keep trying other dishes (avoiding specials)
On another note, I read some of the other reviews about this place, and some of them are very sus.
Some reviews were written during the Covid lockdown when indoor dining wasn't allowed but yet they claim they sat down. When I was there, they had all the tables roped off.
Maybe they just reviewed it late?
But then I read a review which can't possibly be this place at all.
So I don't think this place cares enough about its online presence to pay for good reviews.
Maybe there's a more fundamental problem here? Something on the server side; perhaps, it's not a...
Read morePossibly the worst food I've ever had, stopped by on my lunch and saw it was cheap. Got the #12 beef and vegetables on fried rice. Fried rice had random burnt pieces in it, so every other bite tasted like the bottom of a scraped frying pan, not to mention all they used was soy sauce for seasoning. And the "beef and vegetables" had 5 tiny peices of beef, 3 tiny broccoli and was 85% bean sprouts doused in soy sauce. Not only do I never leave reviews, but I am never going back here again. Go to the sunny grocery store and get your food from there, it might not be the best but at least they actually give you what...
Read moreA diamond in the rough!! This is one of the best Chinese food spots in all of the GTA. Prices are excellent. Can literally get most combos for under $10 which is unheard of nowadays. The food is amazing every time. A few favourites are the chicken wings, beef ho fun, spicy salt pepper pork chop and beef satay egg noodle soup. Dine in is excellent and take out is good too as long as you have an air fryer readily available. Decent amount of seating but it is very dated. Overall highly recommended and will always pop by every time I’m in...
