I visit Toronto (Scarborough) every few months, and this time I was there for a short period, from Friday to Sunday. I've heard about this place through word of mouth, and I wanted to give it a trial run. As much as I've been loyal to all the different places over the years, let's break that routine and go all out.
This place offers a variety of traditional Tamil foods, including Kothu Rotti, Mutton Rolls, Rice and Curries, as well as finger food items.
Service: I placed my order via phone for Kothu Rotti and Mutton Rolls. The gentleman I spoke to was well spoken and articulated the spice level and whether I wanted to add gravy. I kept the order standard. When I arrived at the place, it was noticeably smaller than other take-out places. Don't let it fool you, as the service by Reno and his Uncle was top-notch! It felt like what a Family-run business should be.
Price: For the type of food, quality, and portion size, this place has it nailed down. Considering the quality that is being delivered. Also, when you get more than 10 Mutton Rolls the price changes (lower).
Food Quality: Over the 30+ years, I've had Kothu Rotti, and this was my first unique experience of freshly made-to-order rotti, as opposed to pre-packaged. Even the Mutton rolls were different in a good way. I personally liked the way they added red onions to the Kothu.
If you haven't tried it yet, you should. I look forward to visiting New Quality Bakery more often. I wish them well in their family-run business, and I hope that others will...
Read moreWe went here for lamprais and it hit the spot. Lady that runs the place was extremely nice and accommodated us with open arms. We got one regular lamprais and she made a veggie one specially for my partner that is vegan and tolerates less spice than myself (I’ve got a Sri Lankan trained tongue, so I always go extra spicy).
The traditional lamprais had all of the parts, though maybe a few slight deviations from what you might have back in Sri Lanka. Overall the lamprias came together very well and tasted great. The Sambal Belacan was modified but very tasty and the eggplant was perhaps a tad sweet. That’s part of the experience though, every place makes theirs a bit differently and it is for you to try out and discover the one you like best. Certainly give there's a try.
Besides the lamprais, we got some buns, rolls, and other small eats which all tasted exactly how they should. Looking forward to...
Read moreI did a websearch for Lamprice and this place popped up first as we live in Scarborough. Read all the google reviews firsr then called Mary before heading over and she was super helpful and polite over the phone so decided to go.
We were not disappointed as the place was small but clean. Lamprice portion is quite large for $11 with borh chicken and mutton in it. A bit on the spicy side owing to the gravy but well worth it. Got mutton rolls too which were AWESOME! Got two chicken patties and a cake free as we got 4 Lamprice and Mutton rolls and were first timers perhaps. Did I say this place was clean? Super clean 👌
Takes only debit or cash. Great customer experience with Mary who knows how to talk to customers. Will...
