We picked up the sorpotel and upon recommendation from the staff there, we also got the chorizo. They let us know that you have to order the side of bread well in advance for them to prep it. Since we didn't do that, we had to buy bread elsewhere (even though they did have another kind of bread at the restaurant, they were charging us for a side that would have been free otherwise so it didn't feel worth it).
To be honest, the flavor of the food was a letdown. We thought the sorpotel was overly tangy and tasted like it was doused in vinegar so none of the masalas could actually stand out. The chorizo was a tad better but had the same problem. My stomach hurt from it later in the evening. If food that is preserved for a few days doesn't agree with tour system, don't risk it. It lacked that freshness and flavor that we had enjoyed with Goan food from when I lived in Bombay. The snacks and desserts looked interesting but we didn't get any. I dont think we'll be coming back. For the portions we got and the quality of food, it was pretty overpriced for just the two of us...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI visited Nostalgia Kitchen and Foods a couple of days ago and was extremely impressed with the ambiance and set up of the take-out facility. Bento and Rosaline should be commended on the location which is easily identified with the orange coloured roof and can be seen from the road and there is a big signboard at the plaza. It is also convenient as it is just off the highway. Rosaline and Bento's dishes are mouth-watering and for those who would like a taste of "Goa cuisine", I recommend you give them a call or still better visit their location to pick up dishes on their menu. Antonio and I have tasted many of their delicacies and would highly recommend that you give them a try. They have recently started the special of the day for lunch so why not give yourselves a break and drive up there for a treat? You name any Goan dish and they make it.....and believe me, it will make you feel like you are in our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered Panrolls, Chicken Pattices, Chicken Cafreal and Jeera Rice from Rose about 2 weeks ago for a house party, and all of them were excellent! While the Chicken Cafreal and Jeera Rice were good, the panrolls and pattices were definitely the highlight. The crepe and puff pastry just melted in your mouth, and the filling inside was sufficient to blend perfectly as a package. Virtually everyone at the party including a few Goan newcomers to the GTA inquired about the food, and most vowed to place an order soon. Thanks Nostalgia for providing authentic Goan food to the GTA area. I'm sure you're much adored by many, and I certainly hope to order...
