This place used to be special, you would walk in and the smell of butter would overwhelm you. Its been a year or more since I last visited and this time when I went in, there was no strong smell of butter. That should have been my clue to leave. The phyllo based baklava was no where near the quality or taste of what it used to be. It used to be much much better then any of the other baklava shops in the GTA, and now its just the same. The phyllo pastry was stale, the nuts were beyond burnt and of poorer quality, the sugar syrup had no floral taste at all and there was not even a hint of butter. I get it, inflation sucks, but I am 100% fine with paying 30% or 40% more to get the kind of quality I am used to from you. The second you skimp on quality, its only a matter of time before you fail. Maybe you are blending vegetable ghee with butter to cut costs or not even using butter at all but what I can tell you with 100% certainty is this, the butter used to overwhelm your baklava in an amazing way, and now I don't even get a hint of it. Same thing happened to Baklava king, you used to be able to taste the butter in every piece of phyllo bakalava, and now you cant. You guys lost sight of what made you successful, go back to...

Today I had the pleasure of being one of the happiest clients at Patisserie Royale! I ordered a large assorted platter of baklava, and every single piece lived up to their stellar reputation—flaky, fresh, and perfectly sweet. Their baklava truly speaks for itself, so I won’t repeat what many already know: it’s some of the best in the city.
What made my visit even more special was trying a newly launched dessert: the Cheese Nabulsi. It was my first time tasting cheese in a dessert, and I must say—WOW! The crispiness, mild sweetness, and smooth cheesy center created a perfect balance. It was unique, light, and absolutely delicious. A big thank you to Navshin, one of the kind team members, who offered me a warm cup of tea as a token—it complemented the dessert beautifully.
The staff were welcoming, the presentation was on point, and the shop had a cozy, authentic vibe that made the whole experience memorable.
Wishing the team all the best for their hard work and continued success! 🙌
Hoping they open a branch near Kingston and Guildwood...

Beautiful and bright interiors. A great variety of Arabic sweets offered. Loved the details in store, with the signs with explanations.
I wasn't sure what to get as I came across this place when I happened to be in the plaza. So to try, I only got a dozen of mamoul (walnut & pistachio mix) this time. It turned out to be one of the best ones I had. It was fresh and I loved that the rosewater wasn't overpowering because a lot of times, I've noticed it at other places. Another place I'd previously go to (crown pastries) served stale cookies last time & the scent of the bukhoor used in store was pretty much absorbed into the cookies which I hated.
So I'm glad I came across pâtisserie rotale, as this will be my go-to from now. Staff was very nice as well. I'd love to go back to try the petit fours & kunafa.
