$13!!! for a hard sandwich and terrible hot chocolate w unfriendly service. No thanks. This is my second visit to the Rooster. The coffee I had the first time was good enough to get me to go a second time. In trying to avoid another Tim Horton's lunch while volunteering, I stopped in to the Rooster. I received the worst hot chocolate I've ever tasted. It was basically hot milk with a bit of brown colouring. After tasting it I asked if they use syrup or powder. Syrup. GIRADELLI's no less. This hot chocolate was close to $5. Dude, hot chocolate is an absolute treat and MUST be chocolatey. If you're going to use an excellent syrup, USE it! I asked for another bit and the barista was so snippy about it. I would've paid for it even..... She sd "sure I'll give you another little bit" and might as well have spit in my beverage both w her disgust at my request and w the amount she put in... It was ridiculous. I also had a roast beef sandwich that was meant to have horseradish mayo and mango salsa on it. It was a PRE-pared sandwich in the fridge and they don't have a mechanism w which to heat sd sandwich. It comes out of a fridge!!! The bread is hard bd its cold and you have nothing to heat it? A panini press wouldve been perfect and I wouldve taken a microwave at that point... Also, there wasn't any mayo. The beef was perfect and the mango was good....... All in all, this was a terrible experience and I won't...
Read moreThe Rooster Coffee House is your perfect coffee shop; itâs is a savvy place to be. It exhumes a Toronto-like character and stylishness. Aside from the fact that it is located on Broadview, near Greek Town, and literally in front of a park that offers one of the most beautiful view of the Toronto city scape, the Rooster Coffee House is very beautifully decorated and charming in its own unique way: dark wooden floors, tables, chairs, stools and counters, with dark brown leather sofas; white and light beige brick walls; a stripped black and white canopy with large red umbrellas. Old, worn down, brown suitcases stacked next to the sofas serve as side coffee tables. The coffee shop is very well staffed; on a Tuesday morning, for instance, three cheerful and chatty baristas stand behind the small serving area. There is a nice balance of individual seating arrangements, seating arrangements for pairs, and a large table as a common seating area. The front counter where orders are taken feels like a mini bakery in itself, with lots of âimpulse buyâ items well displayed while youâre waiting for the transaction to settle. As every coffee shop in downtown Toronto should have, there is free WiFi. Their music is tasteful, and not to high so as to burry conversations, and not so low so as to not being able to distinguish a song's lyrics. Their coffee is nothing short of delicious. Board and/or card games would be a...

However, there's one aspect that leaves me scratching my head every time â the tipping policy. While the service is efficient and the staff friendly, it's a bit puzzling to be prompted for tips when the service is limited to ordering at the counter. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for rewarding excellent service, but it feels a tad awkward in this setup.
Another minor inconvenience is the cafĂŠ's cashless policy. While I understand the move towards a more streamlined payment process, there's something irksome about having to whip out my card for a simple $3 coffee.
On a brighter note, the cafĂŠ boasts outdoor seating with tables and chairs overlooking Riverdale Park. There's something truly magical about sipping your coffee al fresco while soaking in the serene beauty of the park. It's the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a moment of tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle of the city.
In summary, while the cafĂŠ offers excellent coffee, delicious cookies, and a picturesque setting, there are a few minor quirks that could be addressed to enhance the overall experience. Nonetheless, it remains a charming spot worth visiting for a relaxing break or a leisurely...
