This has been my second time coming here. The food isn't bad. I like it, and although I won't be coming back to this franchise again, the food is decent. The 1 star is for the customer service and lack of professionalism I experienced with two employees at the Fort York location who are employed by Roywoods. I was waiting in line and once I got into order, a gentleman naturally walked in after me (as we're all trying to be smart while socially distancing).. As the older lady behind the counter was taking my order, she stopped and began taking the order of the gentleman behind me. Not sure why, but I let it slide. There were 4 other people in the store taking their time making lots of conversation with the gentleman who was working and it seemed really disorganized. The gentleman who walked in after me, got his order and cashed out before me and there really wasn't a reason except for a lack of communication behind the counter or just poorly organized. You wouldn't cash the customer behind the one cashing out at the cashier at a grocery store... So why do this here? He wasn't picking up an order or a delivery. When I was paying out, the one gentleman working behind the counter was speaking to another female customer who he apparently knew, telling her that he almost got into a fight with this one guy who wanted to fight him and began to use the "N-Bomb" saying these two "N-Bomb" people blah blah... I was going to walk out but they had already placed the food in and didn't want to disrespect. While this may not directly reflect the owner and CEO or Roywoods, I think this kind of behaviour is incredibly unprofessional and reflects badly on the company as a whole. I really think the food is good and the vibe inside the store is relaxed and okay, albeit the music too loud where you have to speak louder to order, but I've never experienced unprofessionalism to this degree. I won't be going back and I hope as a company you are aware who you are employing and if you're okay with language that might harm your brand with a diverse group in the City of Toronto you are successfully...
Read moreOrdered from this place today (July 20th) at 10:30pm. The estimated time for delivery was 11:15pm which was odd considering I’m not too far from the location. As the time got closer it changed to 11:25pm, then 11:35pm and finally came at 11:40pm. Unfortunately this was just foreshadowing of what was to come. By the time the food arrived I was so hungry I took a quick bite from the beef patty and nearly dislodged a tooth from the hard corner. I tried to take a few more bites from the centre thinking it’s probably just the edges and had the same experience as the entire patty was tough as a shoe sole, so I threw it away and went for the main course (jerk pork). As I opened the container, I instantly noticed how dry the rice looked. This was a shock as I not only chose the oxtail gravy option from their Uber eats menu but I also asked for extra gravy in the notes. I begin forking through the dish to see if the gravy had went to the bottom but nothing, just more dry rice. I then focused my attention on the pork and noticed it looked old and dry as well and sure enough, it was old and dry with a slightly odd smell. I then decided I’ll use the provided coleslaw to add moisture to my bites but unfortunately it smelled spoiled so I had to toss that as well. The only thing left in my order was the can of pop so I used it between bites to add moisture back to my mouth. I just can’t understand why Roy Woods would think this quality is acceptable to serve. Definitely not a good idea if you’re trying to obtain or maintain a customer. I’m very disappointed and as I sit here writing this review, I’m focusing on trying to keep my food down. I liked this place a few years ago but it seems the service and quality has dipped very low. At this point it’s too low for my liking and I won’t be ordering from here again.
Note: I wouldn’t necessarily blame it on the chef, I blame it on the management trying to cut corners and holding their food too long and the workers handling the food for not accommodating the...
