I don't know where to begin. This place is so awkward. First there is edm music, I'm not sure if they realize that most people are at Sunday brunch because they are hungover or to chat with family and friends, loud edm at breakfast isn't it.
You don't get acknowledged at the host stand until they are done chatting with coworkers and come to you. The server let's us know that there's no modifications allowed, that you should be eating their chef's intended creation. Ok fine, but there's so much put into your dishes thats not ingredients listed on the menu. Be sure to tell them everything you don't like because there will be hidden ingredients like onions and A LOAD of black pepper in the eggs, Tomato on the mixed greens etc.
Our table was woobly by a good inch or more, it was very woobly. We asked a random server for napkins to put under as we didn't see our own server. This server says ok but goes to do a few other things acting like he just ignored our request. So I grab the napkin from the table next to me and made the table stable. Then after we're happy with the table the server comes and goes I'm going to fix it, I said it's good like this, he says no let me do it. He made it back to woobly and the waters went all over the table when he switched it back to woobly.
Side plates. We asked for side plates as we were going to share. The plates brought to us were nothing less than a joke. I've never seen any other restaurant give me plates this scratched up and unpleasant in my life. I have attached a photo. I asked the server if the manager was aware these plates were being sent to customers and he said yes, it's just a few scratch marks. This is just bad business when it's $25 a plate for breakfast. Even 50s diners don't serve you plates like that.
Food: my chive biscuit was tiny and so burnt, I asked if it was normal as I wanted a different one and he said yes this is how they are. I honestly wish I took a picture of the food but I didn't. The apple pancakes were the worst I've ever had. They were a rock. Couldn't even cut them. We didn't eat most of that entire dish. Do NOT order pancakes here. Just wow. And please stop dumping an entire black pepper shaker into your eggs, it was an overpowering amount.
I was eyeing the bacon grilled cheese but it's such an awkward place, I won't be back to try it.
I went on google reviews and noticed there's tons of people who had a similar experience to me. So I guess it's a management issue overall as these similar reviews have been saying this for years.
I guess in good news, we left here laughing because we just couldn't believe how weird our experience was, we laughed the...
Read moreToday is Tuesday September 29,2020 and my wife and I just arrived home from School Resto where we had dinner, as always the food is ABSOLUTELY SPECTACULAR and we have never had a bad meal here so Bravo to the Chef !!
Tonight was the worst dining experience I’ve had at this restaurant the waitress truly had a poor attitude and it was quite evident she didn’t enjoy her job, she was impatient and abrupt and abrasive. She chose sit with a bunch of guys on the patio where my wife and I were seated who extremely loud and obnoxious and clearly intoxicated and continued to drop the F-bomb every other word. I found it odd that the waitress who was actually a manager doing shots with these gentlemen, my wife and I were the only ones in the restaurant/patio. When it came time to pay the bill I chose not the tip our waitress because of the poor customer service, I asked the waitress who the manager was and she replied “me”, I then asked who is the general manager and she pointed to one of the gentlemen who were sitting at the obnoxious table, she (server) then asked me if there was a problem? I explained to her that my/our dining experience was a very unpleasant experience, I also asked why she was serving alcohol to these patrons because clearly these gentlemen were intoxicated...I said actually there is a law that prohibits the selling alcohol to customers that are drunk and I know the law very well....It give me no pleasure writing a review like this but if I was the owner of this restaurant I’d want to know how my staff/managers are conducting themselves when I’m not there...you’ve lost us as customers and in time like these you truly need to do better.
The BEST burger I’ve ever eaten north of the border (Bacon Cheddar Burger w/ Savory Tomato Jam, Garlic Pickles, Roasted Kale, Sriracha Mayo. DMK Burger Bar in Chicago is the absolutely the best burger I’ve ever eaten in the USA !!! Great job School Resto you cook the meat the way it’s supposed to...
Read moreFrom start to finish, it was riddled with incompetence, poor service, and subpar food.
When we arrived, we were the only ones in line. The waiter (toque dude), who also seated us, asked us three separate times if the table was for two people. Each time, we confirmed it was, yet he would walk away and start another task before finally seating us.
I ordered the Krispy Krunchy French Toast (rolled in snap, crackle, pop, with Peach-Raspberry compote and brown sugar butter) and politely asked if the compote could be served on the side. The waiter, wearing a toque, responded dismissively, saying, “It comes on the top.” I reiterated my request, to which he gave the same robotic response. I even asked how he would handle an allergy situation, and his shocking reply was, “They wouldn’t order that.” That level of disregard was appalling.
To make matters worse, a customer seated beside us asked for berries on the side of their dish, and the same waiter obliged without hesitation. He even loudly asked that table if they had any allergies—a courtesy he never extended to us. The double standard and lack of professionalism were glaring.
As for the food itself? Tasteless and disappointing. My French toast was bland, dry and definitely not worth the hype. The snap, crackle, pop gimmick didn’t add anything to the dish, and the compote tasted artificial. For a place that markets itself as a standout brunch spot, the quality was shockingly low. The food was delivered by another waiter, but our original waiter never checked on us throughout the meal. Instead, he focused on clearing tables around us—tables that were seated well after we arrived.
This experience left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended). The lack of consistency, respect, and basic hospitality was beyond disappointing, and the subpar food didn’t help. I hope the management takes feedback like this seriously, as it’s clear there are major issues with both service and...
