sleepy peteās serves hefty, filling, and pretty heavy-tasting breakfast options. they prepared every order individually / one by one, so it was quite slow (not good if youāre in a rush) but everything was served super fresh and piping hot.
my top choice would be the sausage breakfast sandwich: the very heavy flavours of the sausage, cheese, and biscuit were balanced DELICIOUSLY by the hot honey. the sandwich was lathered generously with it, so much so that there was hot honey dripping from the warm, soft, moist, mushy biscuit (but it still held its integrity well). it was a tiny bit spicy, but you could shake it up even more with a sharp and vinegary kick by splashing some tabasco onto the sandwich. i found that the meatiness of the sausage and saltiness of the cheese was dominated by the prominent sweet, gooey/sticky, and addictive hot honey.
the biscuits and gravy is also yummy, but i found it was wayyy to heavy and the flavour was too intense for a first meal early in the morning. it didnāt have the same sweet balance that the sandwich had from the hot honey, so i got a bit fatigued after a few bites. the gravy was SWIMMINGGG with large chunks of sausage and bacon (maybe even too much???), and it had a very strong peppery taste. i loved the biscuits submerged inside though, it was such a comforting, mushy texture, and had its own distinct...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverall I enjoyed my experience here. I got to try their hash brown, sausage and egg sandwich, and chicken sandwich.
Starting with the hash brown. The hash brown itself was very good, I just wish it was crispier. It was the first thing I ate and it was already a little floppy.
By far the star of the show was the egg and sausage sandwich. Everything was cooked fresh, the sausage patty was generously sized, and the hot honey added a delicious and unique flavor. Only draw back was the cheddar and jalapeƱo biscuit which was a little overpowering, I would go for the normal biscuit next time.
The only reason Iām giving 4* instead of 5* is the chicken sandwich. The chicken itself was very well cooked; it was crispy and juicy, just like chicken should be. Unfortunately I cannot say I liked the spicy lemon pepper flavor, it just didnāt hit. Maybe with more pickles and mayo it would have balanced out, but overall it just didnāt work. Small disclaimer: I love spicy chicken sandwiches and can find myself overly critical of them sometimes.
Would definitely recommend going here for the egg and bacon / sausage sandwiches. If you go during busy times (weekend brunch / lunch) just be prepared to wait a while in a small...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have no clue why this place had any social media hype. We gave it a shot and were extremely disappointed.
The good: the fried chicken (just the chicken) was cooked perfectly and massive. The shop looks cool.
The bad: they donāt offer just an egg and cheese. You need to pay for the meat priced options. Strange when you are getting less stuff. The egg was like 1/2 of an egg. There was basically no egg on the egg and cheese. Nothing like the insta photos. I should have sent it back and asked for egg, but I can only imagine how they would go over.
The fried chicken was an absolute mess. There was probably 1/4 cup of the super vinaigrette sauce.. I couldnāt even pick it up as the sauce was just pouring out. it was very over powering. I have no clue why anyone would want to eat a sandwich on a dried out biscuit. Itās not a good mix. I ate the chicken and the rest went in the trash. Also, no bathrooms available. I thought this was a requirement for restaurants....
