I ordered at 8pm via Uber Eats (about 2 hours before closing) super excited after hearing only amazing things about the burgers (from various social media platforms). I decided to go with the Dutty combo as the pictures online looked absolutely incredible! Now, something to note about me is that I NEVER send any food back. I have never had an experience before (physical or through apps) where I refused to eat the food because I don’t believe in wasting. When the food was delivered, I loved the handwritten “thank you” on the package and was excited to dive in. First thing I noted was the Sprite that was BURNING hot, which made me have a quick chuckle. Not a big deal, it’s just a drink. Probably got warm in the delivery person’s seat. (Strange though since the delivery guy was on a bike!) When I took out the burger and the tater tots, I wasn’t really impressed by the look of the burger but most delicious burgers don’t look good! The tater tots were tasty and quite fun to eat. But there was this strange smell in the air and I couldn’t quite understand where it came from. I threw out the trash so it can’t be that. I went to take a piece of the burger and wow, it really didn’t taste so good. Actually, I’ve had better burgers from McDonald’s. I was so disappointed! But I didn’t want to just base my opinion off only one bite. This is when I realized that the rancid, moldy smell was coming from the burger itself. I’m not sensitive to smells by any means but there is really an odour that is very unpleasant and the opposite of nice, greasy mouth-watering smell that you should always get from burgers. I went to take another bite and… no, somehow it tasted worse. I took it apart and the chicken really didn’t look fresh, almost like it was bad. I’m surprised they let this out of the kitchen. This makes me sad as I wanted to support local businesses and was dying to get a burger from this place but as a first-time consumer, I am really not impressed and actually kind of concerned. I don’t think I’d come back simply because I think they served me a burger that shouldn’t have left the kitchen. I really wish I could have someone come over and smell it! Did something happen during the trip from the restaurant to my house? I just can’t get over how bad it smells! I tried to convince my partner to take a bite and the second they brought a piece to their nose, they could tell something was off. I will be throwing it away and eating the rest of my Tater Tots, hoping I won’t get sick like the couple in the other reviews. So...

the mac and charlie is kind of everything you could ever want to eat — grilled cheese, mac n cheese, and chicken — and so obviously it was yummy, but maybe it didn’t live up to my ridiculously high expectations..? even though the chicken was incredibly moist and juicy, i felt like the sandwich was lacking flavour. it wasn’t “oozing” with mac n cheese as advertised, and i could barely taste it, save for a little hint of cheddar in a few bites? still, there were some really great things about this sandwich — i loved how crunchy sourdough was, and i thought the slight sourness and oiliness from the toast gave a super interesting and unique taste in a chicken sandwich like this. the deep flavour of the fried coating on the chicken in some bites were also nice.

PRO TIP: lather some of the coleslaw and spicy ranch (from the wedges) onto the sandwich, and that creates an immaculate tasting sandwich with way more flavour. the coleslaw was seriously SOOOOO creamy and crunchy and cold and SWEET and provided such a fresh touch to everything else.

the wedges were meh, they were super mushy and piping hot and maybe missing some seasoning? it comes with some tangy ranch (that isn’t really that spicy), so that was nice.

portion sizes were also a bit disappointing, especially the $6...

MAJOR LET DOWN. Decided to try this place out, especially after seeing the reviews on Google and Tiktok. Ordered the “Big A* Mac” and the “Big A* Combo”.

Big A** Mac: The chicken is only dark meat and the portion of chicken is not as much as I’ve seen from online. The chicken was a tad over cooked. The sauce used on it was good but there wasn’t enough ( barely coated). The Mac and cheese was a complete let down. No seasoning/bland, just unsalted elbow macaroni with cheese (well that’s what it tasted like).

Big A** combo: The chicken in the sandwich was alright but it’s one of those types where you get tired of eating it quick. The bun was nice, tasted good. The coleslaw was good, though it got overpowered by the chicken. The tater tots surprisingly stood out compared to everything else, only comment is that it was quite salty. The sauce on the side helped tone the salt down and was very tasty as well.

The size of the food was good for the price but this is one of those cases where quantity doesn’t guarantee quality.

Overall, would I come again, no, but I wouldn’t discourage someone from going and trying it out for themselves.

UPDATE: out of the 4 ppl who ate, 2 including myself, experienced...

After listening 👂🏻 a lot of hype about this place food. So, we decided to visit The Heartbreak 💔 Chef 👨‍🍳 located in Kensington Market - Toronto, ON. If you’re looking 👀 for a phenomenal food 🍲 🍱 🥘 / dining experience, look no further than The Heartbreak 💔 Chef 👨‍🍳 . Their menu is a culinary masterpiece, offering an incredible selection of dishes that cater to diverse tastes and preferences. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳 is friendly and attentive, making every visit a true pleasure. The Heartbreak 💔 Chef 👨‍🍳 is a lovely 😊 place. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city 🏙️ in spite of being in the city 🌃. The place has the nice indoor seating arrangements and the seating arrangement is super comfortable and spacious.

The staff is really nice, friendly and kept following 🆙. The food 🍱 🍲 🥘 menu is great 👍 and there are many choices to choose from and they also offer quite a lot of small bites options to choose from.

Pricing 💲 is decent, good 👍 value for money 💰 💵 and the place is more suitable for a group of people.

We wanted to give this place another try. We had been excited about it all week. As it’s not something we’d typically eat for dinner. The Big Ass Chicken Sandwich was absolutely delicious — we’ll definitely be coming back for that. Unfortunately, we were originally there for their Big Ass Mac, and it ended up being a huge letdown. The description said it comes with two pieces of chicken tossed in sauce, but when we got it home, we realized it was just two chicken tenders with barely any sauce at all. I definitely thought it would be much bigger, given the name and its price. Check out my pic. The chicken itself was cooked well, but it lacked any flavor or seasoning. The macaroni was also very underwhelming — just bland and comparable to something we could’ve microwaved. Overall, we were pretty disappointed. The hype doesn’t feel justified anymore. It was a lot better when they first opened, but sadly, it seems like they’ve lost the passion that made it special in the beginning.
