Given they're the only option at a lot of restaurants, I get pretty bored of vegan burgers. And make no mistake—this is a vegan burger joint. Their menu consists of a "beef" burger, a "chicken" burger, some "chicken" tenders, waffle fries, and soft serve.
But damn, do they do those five things well! Instead of your average frozen Impossible patty, they use Impossible ground and season and shape their own patties. It's a smash-type burger, so the texture is different, the flavour better. You can get a second patty or add cheese. The Impossible is good, but frankly, many Impossible burgers are kind of more of the same. But the "chicken"—I swear it's the best vegan chicken I've ever had. Most tastes like cardboard, but somehow they got the look, the texture, and even the taste just right. In a blind taste test—hell, even looking at them side-by-side—you'd be pressed to tell the vegan chicken apart from real tenders, and that's coming from a non-vegan I went with.
It's simple. The menu is small. But when you can sit in the window and look out on Younge's nightlife while having a damn good vegan burger, what more can you ask for?
Just do yourself a favour and get some of the soft serve to end it off....

I’ve been here plenty of times since it has opened and the customer service here is terrible/non-existent. It would literally be better if they just had a touch screen for self-serve orders.
Out of the bunch of times I’ve been, the white guy who’s bald was amazing/terrific service so please excuse him from the following notes:
The guy with dark hair and glasses didn’t say one word while I made my order, turned around without passing me the receipt or confirming my order, yelled out when my order was ready and turned away without looking me in the eyes, then proceeds to ignore me when I say “thanks” while leaving.
Management should watch the cameras to see how their employees treat customers and either provide customer service training or pay their staff better.
Everyone else should be taught some basic customer service/etiquette training as well. The women that work here have minimal communication skills as well and also ignore customers until they get their attention.
Will update this review to 5 stars to reflect the food once I start getting better customer service and if another restaurant opens with similar food anytime soon I’ll never...
Read moreWhat can I say that hasn't already been said about Soy Boys...likely nothing, but I'm going to say it anyways. Soy Boys is easily one of my top 3 places in Toronto to go to. Don't be fooled by its small size, as it makes some of the best food in town!
While Soy Boys doesn't have a huge menu, this is exactly what makes it special - because the options they do have, they make to an 'out of this world' level. I have had all of the burger and side options here (including the special 'Chick'n Burger' they had for a while - please bring this back SB!!) and everything has been exceptional. I would highly recommend the waffle fries and house sauce with whatever you get.
On top of this, Soy Boys is open until at least 3am every evening/morning, except on Friday and Saturday, when I believe that is extended until 4am! What makes this even more unbelievable is that the staff there are always lovely and happy and helpful. I am usually grumpy past 10pm, so I don't know how they do it!
Every time I'm in Toronto I ALWAYS make sure to make a trip to Soy Boys, as it wouldn't be a proper trip without it at this point. Would give this 10...
