I went for lunch choosing the 15 piece Sashimi boat at $22.95 along with a side of Chicken Karaage at $8.95, green tea and a side of hot Sake of course. I've been to this location many times over the years and never had a bad experience. I was surprised to find my Sashimi didn't come with a little rice on the side as most places provide and although not stated on the menu, I was asked if I wanted to make my meal a combo with a miso soup and salad which are also usually included with such meals and I presume for an added charge here. I felt like I was at a fast food joint and it certainly didn't help. Things change I suppose. The food itself is generally good although the surf clam did taste a tad funky. The Wait Staff are courteous and attentive and the restaurant is clean. Not fully accessible as you have stairs to this second floor establishment.

Uber: take-out platter Wonderful. Delicious. My family enjoyed it very much! It was my first time ordering from here and it definitely did not disappoint. (Pls look at update) UPDATE: (dine-in) I stumbled this restaurant today and figured I’ll go in and try. I didn’t realized I have ordered here before from Uber eats. The eat-in experience was ok but the sushi did not seem fresh at all. I ordered the “salmon, salmon salmon” plate and I couldn’t finish it all and wasted $20. The lady who looks like the manager there looked like she was training a new employee and seem quite frustrated with her. It felt very awkward as she kept apologizing for her mistakes/ forgetfulness. I felt bad for the new employee. You can get better cheap sushi elsewhere! The rice was hard and the sushi seemed spoiled… Don’t waste your money!

**Groupon holders beware!!!!!** I bought a couple of Groupons for this place. The food is not bad consider it is not ran by actual Japanese. Price is reasonable. I was shocked when I get the bill and presented the Groupon and was told there is a 15% service charge for using the Groupon, but there is nothing on the Groupon that stipulates the 15% service for using the Groupon nor did they tell me about it when I presented them the voucher before placing my order. This is a very shady way of doing business. It is these kind of sneaky behavior that turns me off no matter the quality of the food and the level of service. As soon as I used up my other groupon, this joint will be deleted from my memory bank for ever.

I was a regular. One day shortly after the conflict in Japan the chef made a California roll something was noticeably wrong with it. It smelled very bad. I complained. Never thought of the incident again. Went back it was busy pride evening. Ordered a Sapporo and a California roll the waitress was rude and said 'you don't like California rolls'. She was being purposely extremely rude and aggressive because I complained previously. How inappropriate I was out for pride and she ruined my evening. Get a thicker skin as clearly from the reviews your fish suppliers are unreliable and the chef's are cutting corners with freshness. I'd rather complain than get food poisoning. I'm a chef and know when something is rotten and I don't need a lecture from an arrogant waitress for protecting my health and I still gave this place another chance which was me being kind! She was being so incredibly aggressive and rude out of spite for complaining once in the years I paid them. They have a board a chalk board referring to indigenous people and 6.1, 6 2 etc it's offensive because they have no place commenting about my families property rights. I was firm about the California roll I don't like being told what to eat and what I enjoy by an arrogant hostile and catty and mean waitress, this time it was good. After ordering a volcano I noticed something was wrong with it. It was the service that made me suspicious about the food not the food this time. It's clear that if you complain to these people they are so aggressive and hostile they would probably do something awful to your food out of spite due to their egos! It was clear these people were being aggressive and hostile. I brought the role to the service desk and said I won't eat it because the service made me loose my appetite. The male chef I'm assuming the waitresses husband then said don't speak to women like that. I said I don't have to tolerate your garbage politics on your chalk board. He asked me to leave. I said before paying or after as I wanted to at least pay for the meal. He was so aggressive I said I don't have to tolerate being spoken to like this. He then attacked me and shoved me and pushed me and hit me pride evening. What a loser and what an ignorant violent jerk. I hope they are shut down. He wouldn't treat a kid this way so why are these arrogant jerks treating paying customers this way. They have zero respect for their customers and can't handle constructive criticism and instead escalate to aggression and violence. Disgusting behaviour the man should be in jail. I have zero respect for violence you acted like a worthless terrorist loser...

I had been going here a few times a month almost two years and I’m vegetarian. I always ordered a vegetarian meal and clarified with the server that there is no meat in anything, including the soup. The second last time I went they served me sushi rolls that had small fish eggs on it and thank god I noticed. This past time, I had an odd feeling yesterday when I went and was served the soup that comes a part of the “vegetarian bento box” that I had ordered every time in the past, so I asked again if it was made with fish. The server said no and gave it to me. Then when I was having it he decided to say the soup is made of a fish powder base. Mind you I have been eating this soup every time I’ve come in for almost two years. Having a dietary restriction isn’t fun or always wanted, however to not consent to what you’re eating is really not okay and needs to be taken seriously. Why would you put a “vegetarian bento box” on the menu if it’s served with fish? I might as well had been eating normal fish sushi the whole time. I stayed calm when I was told, even though I was very sad that this had been happening for so long. I went to tell the server after having the salad and soup that had been given to my boyfriend and I that we would be leaving, I apologized, but wanted to make sure the server wouldn’t be stuck paying for the meal. Then he says that he wouldn’t be but he would have to check with management if it is “on the house”... he checked then came up to us and showed us the side of soup on the menu that didn’t explicitly say “vegetarian” and try to say it was my fault. I then showed him that what I was ordering was included under “VEGETARIAN bento box”. Not only that but he knew I clarified by asking him and he initially said no along with the many other times I came and was reassured their was no meat in anything. I was already really sad that this had happened, and appauled at the customer service/how they handled this situation. This along with the past few times they’re have been issues with orders and the staff has been rude and also told me to pay for their mistakes is ridiculous. To be honest I hate writing reviews like this but this all needed to be said. I do not suggest you go here, especially if you’re vegetarian or have any food...

I really like the food from there. The sushi is great, especially the spicy salmon roll. I often order from here, but rarely eat in. Today I chose to dine in at the restaurant.

I took some friends here for lunch today and I was happy to notice the sign out front that said "Lunch - $10.99" There was no further details about the special other than that on the chalk board out front, but I asked my server once we were seated.

She brought us the Lunch menu and pointed at the bento boxes, she said that all the bento box meals were covered by the weekly promotion. We ordered two, among other items.

When it came time to pay the bill, my server charged us the full amount shown on the menu or $12.50 for the bento box. When I asked about the weekly special rate, she said that that was for a different menu item and that this is the price. This is despite a confirmation at the beginning of the meal that it was.

Even if she had made a mistake, I think that it's only right they should have honoured the promotional price. It is the reason that we ordered those items over other options.

I know it's not a big difference in price but I am very disappointed in the bait and switch. Enough so that I will be taking my business to one of the many other local sushi restaurant options...
