Please note: this review has two separate reviews. February 26, 2021 - I'm not sure if the Canary district location on Front street is slipping a bit tho it seemed so tonight. The food remains very tasty, albeit the shrimp hand rolls were not exceptional and the peanut butter dipping sauce tastes to be exactly that, peanut butter (mixed with oil?). The reason for this review and why I've removed my original 5/5 rating to what is now a 4/5 (3.5 is my sweet spot here mind you) star rating has much to do with the portion provided. We ordered a Khao Soi order with noodles. The amount of noodles provided was I'd say precisely half of what is expected and typical of our many past visits. I took a photo of the amount which equates to nearly topping a small size styrofoam cup amount. At $17.50 plus tax I feel it's safe to say this is an exceptionally small amount to serve. Yes, I was left hungry and wanting more. Unfortunately, I was also unable to reach anyone when I attempted to do so (mailbox was also full). I will be back at some point because I'm a sucker for taste! However, I will drop my rating down further as I go and I'll be sure to remind the restaurant the importance of meeting customers with value rather than underserving them. Sukkho Thai and I will be taking a short break from one another for now. 2. December, 2020 - Is Sukho Thai the best Thai food in the city of Toronto? I'm saying it just might be. Disappointed to see the original Parliament location close down. That said, other nearby locations including Front street (Canary district) and Wellington are essentially downtown.

It's really a shame because the food itself is very good but between the inconsistency of service and the erratic hours of operation, it's hard not to think that sukhothai on front just not does not care. A few weeks earlier I came in I think a bit before 4:30. I did not realize the kitchen only opens at after 4:30 however but the doors were open and people were inside so one would assume it's open. After waiting a while a nice fellow at the bar presented me with the menu and I got to order some delicious pad Thai noodles. Admittedly the set up does seem weird as there was full wait staff that seemed to be working and there were two older Thai (I presume) gentlemen seated at the bar who I believe run the operation yet I had stood there a good 10 minutes while waitstaff walked by and either stared at or ignored me before anyone offered any help and it was at the urging of the older gentleman that prompted the others to recognize that I needed help The second time I went, was maybe 10 minutes before 4:30 the doors were WIDE OPEN and I walked in and asked if I could order something and the girl was quite curt and said the kitchen isn't open till 4:30, which is confusing because why would the doors be open then?? Why wouldn't they suggest to take my order and ask me to return after 4:30 to pick up, instead of rudely being dismissive?? And why did I get served the previous time but not on this visit? The third time I went which was today at 4:35 exactly, the doors were shut the lights are out but the sign says we open at 4:30??? Inconsistency much?

Average Thai food, at least for this Corktown location. Extra points for the tom yum kung and chicken nuggets though! Those were yummy and flavourful. However - the Staff took some time to get our orders (it was me and four others) BUT it wasn’t even busy, there were two other small tables at that time. No one came over to refill our cups with water until we asked. Also, they did not have one of the cocktails on the menu because they ran out of ingredients and it was only 3:45pm in the afternoon. My husband ordered Singha beer on tap but they gave him a bottle instead, the waitress obviously did not pay attention when taking down our orders and I was somewhat annoyed at that point. What’s even more concerning was no one came over to ask for our contact information, there were no hand sanitizers on site so, a few COVID protocols were lacking. They are also losing another star because 4 out of 5 of us got our food within 15-20 minutes and the poor 5th person didn’t get his until everyone else finished. The timing of serving the food was way off and we were all sitting there watching our friend eat his meal last. When it came to checking out, we asked to split bills and the waiter asked us three times who ordered what (grrrrrrr!!!). Don’t think I’ll come to this location again, will stick with the Wellington location instead. Very. Terrible. Customer. Service.

This review is not in regards to the food but the service I received while waiting on an order I placed online to be ready at 530 today. I have ordered from this place before and their food is great!! I arrived promptly at 530 and provided the name for the pick up and was told it would be just a few minutes for the chicken. after about 10 min, the gentleman asked who I am picking up for and again I gave my name. After several pick up orders came and went from other online orders and customers that have placed their order on site. I asked how much longer it would be, to which the gentleman responded that they were just packing it up now. after about 20 min I asked the girl behind the counter how much longer and she too responded that they were packing it up now. at 553pm I requested a refund, as there was no assurance that this order was coming. The gentleman proceeded to process what looked like some online orders and receipts and I asked again, if he was processing my refund, to which he responded, that he is not able but the girl in the back will. At this point I've lost my appetite, and I just want my refund. The girl with the White Mercedes cap informed me that the food is ready and the decision is mine to receive a store credit or nothing at all. To which I replied, "you tell me what you would do if you were me. Put yourself in my shoes". She said that she understands and this is why she's giving me the choice of 30% off or nothing. I said I'm pretty sure I'm not coming back, so issue me a credit on what I just ordered. Of course they cannot do that. I took the credit option for a future purchase. How is credit issued you ask? On a piece of paper with my name and number. you tell me, do you feel confident about this "future credit". I felt like a ghost standing there for 25 minutes waiting on my food. It won't...

please bare with my passion and lack of grammar,,,where to even begin omg i'm going to start with with food because that's the simplest of pleasures of the evening tho don't let the simplicity of the joy it gave me fool you this place has consistently made some of the most delicious curry's i've ever had and before this id say my main dish of choice to ever order anywhere is some sorta curry, i've probably had thousands and this place wow just so delicious and fulfilling! Now for the entree of this review the lovely and amazing Beth my dear you made my day!!! i have celiac disease and Beth took the time to simply and clearly let me know how she can accommodate me and what to avoid something she made seem so simple and easy yet every restaurant i've been to since being diagnosed has ignored or failed to let me know of possible complications thus letting me get sick. This simple act of even knowing what celiac disease is and the knowledge of her kitchens ingredients is more grace, kindness and experience i've witnessed from a restaurant employee in maybe 6 months and it genuinely made me feel so seen and so cared for! knowing what's in the kitchen is so important for staff and i'm so grateful Beth was there to assist me in finding a dish i can enjoy at my favourite restaurant since being diagnosed with a food allergy! i would attach a picture of my food but u best know it was gone the moment i got home fellow celiacs the yellow curry with beef was so delicious and a lovely GF alternative for the khao soi ! i will wholeheartedly recommend sukko thai to anyone i meet because of this incredible service experience tho it may seem mundane to the blind eyes the sadness ive felt since being diagnosed lighted off my shoulders for the moments i spent speaking...
