I've been coming the the Sunset Grill for some time, typically during the week and for an early breakfast, and never been disappointed when those conditions are met. They have a weekday breakfast meal -- eggs, toast, home fries, with the option of adding on some meats for extra charges -- that is a great value in terms of how much food you receive. I tend to add sausage and coffee so, once tip and taxes are accounted for, I'm paying around $10-13.

Early morning the service is fast, coffee and water filled regularly, and the bill delivered with utmost haste. Sadly the same cannot be said of weekends, when the Sunset Grill fills up with people out with their kids and friends for a cheap breakfast and time to gab. Over the weekend this breakfast joint is loud, a bit slow, and prices aren't as low as they should be for the quality of food provided.

I would advise you to generally do a basic breakfast, perhaps with a fruit dish as your 'special extra'. The French toast is a particularly sad meal option: it has the under taste of an omelette which is, perhaps unsurprisingly, not quite how I want my French toast to taste! If the cooks are utilizing any vanilla in the batter for such toast I suspect it's wafted within feet like incense and not actually poured into the mixing bowl.

In short, I conditionally recommend coming here. Not on weekends. And don't adventure too far off the basic breakfast track. But if you're here on weekday mornings you can be sure to relax, enjoy a simple and hearty breakfast, and leave to start your day with a very full belly of...

Weekday visit around 9:30 am. Good things...great location on Queen street. Lots of parking in area either paid on Queen or free (if you can find it) on the sidestreets.

Great staff. Friendly and quick service.

Reasonable prices . We both had the breakfast special of eggs and bacon, coffee, toast, potatoes. $21.

Food was okay. Potatoes burnt in places. Coffee was less than inspiring.

Atmosphere. Dated and run down. Washrooms are in the basement. I would recommend avoiding this trip if you can because I would describe it as dank.

Open kitchen in middle of restaurant which looked clean.

They have a ramp at the front door so you could probably get a stroller/walker/wheelchair in but it would be a small challenge to do so. As well this would only give access to the front/lower section by the kitchen which would not be suitable for larger groups.

I would give this a pass on any...

First time at this location, friendly staff, slow, dirty place, waited a bit for drinks, ordered breakfast over easy eggs, turkey bacon, and potatoes and the eggs . we're not over easy and not even cooked properly still had raw parts and turkey bacon had an off taste 1st wasn't even cooked much and the 2nd lot still wasn't any better couldn't eat They don't bother to do coffee refills, unorganized, original waitress didn't even check in on us to see how we were another lady did. The cooked was on the phone in the kitchen area with mask off his face talking on the phone We've been to many other locations of sunset grill and never had an experience like this defiantly will not be going back here and I definitely will not recommend.this location they don't care about their customers lucky I looked over my bill as they charged for an extra meal which shouldn't...

A place is a must visit place. I went to this place very first time. I loved the decor and the location of this restaurant. This particular sunset grill has really good options in the menu. The service was great and I found it was faster than any other sunset grill i have ever been too. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, server took our order right away and the food was on our table with in few minutes. They were pretty quick with refilling coffee and water and all servers were checking up on us every few minutes that was good and professional. The restaurant was clean and the staff was professionally dressed even the cooks had clean chef coats on and the kitchen space was kept clean even when restaurant got really busy. I will recommend this place to everyone who wants to have a nice brunch experience. You will not regret this place at all.

Went here with a friend for a late lunch and had a great meal. It’s an old school diner in a really fun part of Toronto called the Beaches. Reminded me a lot of Venice Beach in Los Angels. I am partial to diners so for me this was a great recommendation. Trust me, they do not skimp on the portions. There are a lot of these places around the greater Toronto area, but rumor has it this is one of the original locations. There are some small sets of stairs leading up into the back dining rooms so I don’t know how accessible the place would be. Also there is a steep flight of stairs down to the restroom in the back that I think would be hard to navigate for some older or handicap clients. They service was fabulous and the food came in portions big enough to have leftovers for days.
