Sunshine Spot — Restaurant in Toronto

I usually come here with my friends for brunch but we had a really horrible experience today. We ordered water for the table and we never received it. It took a long time for someone to take our order but we didn’t mind the long wait. It was only when our server got my order completely wrong (I wanted to sub my potatoes for toast but they gave me the potatoes and put my eggs Benedict on the toast instead of the English muffin). When it arrived, I immediately told them I didn’t order potatoes. They told me they’d bring me the bread separately which I didn’t really want since I hate wasting food and there was already so much I couldn’t eat. The bread never arrived, we still didn’t have water, and nobody came to our table for 30 minutes. Finally, we called a server over to tell them what happened, she went to go see what went wrong because I had ordered really clearly and she had understood what I wanted. She came back and told me she wrote the wrong thing so it was her fault. We waited another 20 minutes for the bill (there still wasn’t water) and she said they wouldn’t charge me for the bread that never came. I ended up having to just pack it home for a friend. I feel bad having to write this but this was a horrible way to handle a mistake and we will be looking for different breakfast options...

It's not bad for a quick bite. I had breakfast there. Got the skillet. It was cooked alright, but the cheese was not of great quality (probably one of those grated Black Diamond cheese blocks) and not melted with the rest of the food, so you can actually pick out individual pieces of grated cheese, which is not how I've ever had any of my breakfast skillets before. Wasn't served on a skillet, but served on a plate, which is fine. But for what I paid, I'd expect a little bit more, or for it to cost a little bit less. I have paid for really interesting and unique brunches that are of a similar price. So that was disappointing.

The service was not bad though. Coffee was never empty. Food came out quick. The restaurant is clean. Parking is sufficient as there's not too many other restaurants/stores in that plaza competing for space.

Overall would probably not come back again, not because it was bad, but I could probably find something of a similar quality at a lower price point, or pay a similar price point for something better. But in a pinch, it worked fine for...

First time we visited we had a great experience. Server was nice, food was fast and delicious. However, the second time it was totally opposite. The woman that served us had no customer service etiquette, she was just terrible at her job. They screwed up our order. Here is the kicker, when I asked if they had a highchair for my baby, she said yeah at the back there, you can go get it! And she pointed. Usually most places would be like yes we do, I'll bring it over. Not point me to a direction to the "back" and make me go look for it. And the most disturbing thing is, the kitchen is out in the open and there was a man, who seemed like an owner or manager, or something along these lines, in full street clothes just walking through the kitchen where the food was being prepared and leaning up on the counters, touching up everything with his jacket I mean I hope he wasn't an owner because to be so careless and unsanitary ??? Just all up around the food strolling back and forth. Never coming...
