Do not eat the food here! Two friends and I got FOOD POISONING.
Most of us had been to the old location on Bloor before but had never been to the new location on College so we decided to check it out. At first glance, based on similarities in the decor and the menu, I assumed that this new Green Room had been taken over by the same people at Red Room. This new spot is a lot more like Red Room than the old Green Room, other than the fact that there are still Christmas lights and paintings, so I wouldn't even go to this place for the nostalgia factor. I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with a salad and my friends had a variation of the Mucho Nachos, the Poutine, and the Chicken Fried Rice. The rest of my friends did not eat and ordered pitchers of beer instead. If the food poisoning didn't deter you enough, their service and food are terrible regardless. It took around 20-30 minutes and numerous reminders to get the pitchers on a semi-busy Monday night. The menu is so cheap because their food could be replicated with what's stocked in a college student's fridge. My sandwich was literally mildly toasted whole grain Wonder bread with grilled chicken, veggies, and their so called "melted cheddar cheese" -- a melted Kraft single slice. As soon as I saw this sandwich, I should have known it was the devil staring right back at me. My side salad was a pile of plain lettuce and some other veggies like onion and tomato with no dressing on it and no dressing on the side -- making it the most confusing but probably the healthiest salad I've ever eaten. My friend described his nachos as the "saddest plate of nachos" he had seen. I had tried my friend's poutine and the gravy was definitely just powdered gravy mix.
Early next morning, I suddenly woke up with intense nausea and stomach pain. For the next couple hours, my toilet and I would become very well-acquainted; it would get to know two very different sides of me. My friend who had both the Mucho Nachos and the poutine would also endure the same fate. My boyfriend also started vomiting nonstop, unable to keep down any liquids from morning to evening. However, he did not eat any food but suspects their beer lines may be dirty and unkept because as soon as he tried his beer, he noted that it was flat and tasted really off. All three of us developed a fever throughout the day -- confirming that we had food poisoning and not just an intense hangover or an upset, sensitive stomach. Soon after, our friend who had the Chicken Fried Rice had stomach pains and diarrhea as well, though no fever.
Unless you really want to spice your gastrointestinal life up a bit or unless you suddenly have a lot of extra toilet paper you need to get rid of, I would stay far, far away...
Read moreSo me and two of my friends were there today. We had three rounds of drinks and few orders of food. The lack of service at this place is unbelievable especially considering that on a Thursday thins place is not even busy. We had to flag down our server every single time we needed something. We didn’t think much of it. When we got the bill, there is autograt on it. We spoke to the other server that was working. He had mentioned that there is autograt and this should not have happened. Then we called our server over and asked him about the situation. He had informed us that he was in the wrong and his reason for doing so was due to cheap people who do not tip, he was definitely aware of his wrong doing with the willingness to it. We had asked to see a manager and it turned out that he happened to be so. Outrageous that the very own manager had been the one to do such a thing. He had informed us that he does this often and has been working at this establishment for 3 years. It is unbelievable to me how this place carry’s out its services. Do not come to this place. They lack professionalism, customer service and curtesy. The basic fundamentals to serving in such an...
Read moreThis is my first time going to this new location, my friends and I had been huge fans of both the Green and Red room until recently. The unfortunate incident was over the bill, we had a large group and as people left they were paying off their portion of the bill. However it seemed a very difficult task for the staff. By the end of the night we ask for the final bill and we’re given a bill that was about $40 over, we tried to explain it to the staff and we were treated like idiots. Finally after speaking to two separate staff one came over and I explained that we were being charged for items that had already been paid. He left and came back a little later with the bills that had been paid, and actually made sure I was aware that it took him some time, and as he showed me the bills he said he needed to close the table, he shows me a bill that is the correct amount that we owe with the correct items on it, no apologies were made on their behalf.
Tip: turn your music down, you can maybe hear your customers better and avoid future incidents...
