Tiny Market is a great addition to the city! They've had a brick and mortar presence since around early 2022, and seem to have cultivated a devoted following from locals in the neighbourhood. I visited for some pasta to make at home, and it was striking how the staff knew other customers by name.
This is not a restaurant. Probably the closest comparison to it is a certain pasta maker on Geary Avenue. Tiny Market serves a takeout lunch, a tasting menu, retail options, and you can also take a pasta class. Since I bought some spaghetti to go, I'll speak to that in this review.
The spaghetti came in bags indicating it should be boiled from frozen. Although I sometimes freeze fresh pasta, I don't want to receive it frozen, so I immediately raised my eyebrow at that. However, it had a pleasant snap when cooked al dente, so the texture was perfect. It released a ton of gluten when I was boiling it: the water in the pot was really murky when I poured it through a strainer (after reserving some for the sauce — this isn't my first time cooking pasta!). I'm not sure what that means, but this isn't a pasta I would boil in its sauce (not that I do that anyway, but that's a whole other story). I made a pretty simple tomato sauce as an accompaniment, and it turned out great.
In addition to pasta there are all sorts of interesting retail options at Tiny Market, so I'd encourage you to visit and peruse. If you come back enough times, the staff will probably learn your...
Read moreYesterday evening, I attended a pasta making class here which was booked by my GF for my bday.. to begin with, I had had a long work week (was also suffering from a bit of jet lag after being in Ireland last week for work), so I was feeling a bit drained, but I was like "oh cool, I have never done this before, thanks Love!" and yet still I was finding it hard to muster up the proper energy... however, after five minutes, I was fully energized and engulfed in the experience, Chef Erich and Danielle are amazing people, he is a master of his craft and a proper top Chef, and Danielle is so warm, genuine and welcoming - just a really lovely human. We got a tour of the place - it's homely and familial, we got an understanding of their philosophy (key flex? Chef does it all for the LOVE!), we learned about and made pasta (I was average tbf, but wifey crushed it!), we sampled the vodka sauce with our pasta and the pesto sauce with linguini - both dishes were INSANELY TASTY... the conversation and vibes/atmosphere were fantastic!! I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the Tiny Market to anyone who wants a BIG experience, sensory delights and culinary excellence. Thank you Chef Erich and Danielle, you were magnificent!! All the very best, my God bless and enrich your lives and careers and ambitions, we WILL defo be back... BIG UP...
Read moreWow just wow… deserves way more than 5 stars!!! There truly are no words to describe the experience Danielle and Eric provided us with during our pasta making class. Not only were their skills, tips and tricks so helpful and the pastas we made and dishes served were out of this world amazing! Most importantly they are two of the most wonderful human beings, such pleasant small business owners that adore and have so much passion and drive for what they do not to mention at such a young age. They treat their staff and customers like family, the environment although small is very cozy and homie. By the end of our class it felt as though we’ve know them forever they are extremely friendly, bubbly and personable, making the experience one I don’t think can be topped. If you’re thinking of taking a class or stopping by for some lunch. Think no longer. JUST GO FOR IT! You won’t be disappointed. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend checking them out!! Thanks Danielle and Eric for everything &...
