Napoli Centrale Pizzeria — Restaurant in Toronto

I learned about this place through an add that Facebook pushed at me in my timeline. I got intrigued by a promise of napoletana pizza done right. It took a special trip to visit this place. I wanted to do it for months. Regretfully my expectations exceeded reality.

The pizza is good but not great, and doesn't warrant a special trip. Yes - it's Antimo Caputo 00 flour, yes - it's done in a brick oven right on the stone. No - it's not a wood burning oven (it's open flame natural gas). No - it's not dough that lived for three days (or maybe it was just suffocated by uber-chlorinated Toronto tap water). No - there's virtually no crunchiness. No - it's not perfectly done every time. Two of three pies had bitter crust taste from burned flour.

Liberal use of dry instead of fresh (still in season!) rosemary on my pizza did not suited well with me at all. It was like eating a toast with pine needles.

Lastly - I'll take a star off of every review for restaurants that serve tap water that reeks with chlorine. For goodness sake - invest into a basic water filtration system.

Bottom line - if you are in the neighbourhood then don't skip this place if you are feeling like a pizza night. However, there's no need to drive across the town just...

Yesterday evening my family, and my friends family had a "Napole centrale" pizza. That pizza Tastes so bad, if you can see the pic, its full of olives, also with the other toppings, oh man, i don't suggest anyone. When told about the taste, they did nothing and did not help us in any way. Secondly, the pizza was so thin, we could not hold it. When asked about it, they asked to roll and eat. That's funny, thought, what were we eating, a veggie roll. Finally, we paid bill, and we just took 5 more minutes, and planned to leave, before that one of their staff, asked us to leave, as they were expecting some one else. Man, but they were many other tables unoccupied. Only 5 of them were occupied that moment. We felt humiliated, and felt sad, as this ruined our end of day. Oh by the way, we gave the usual 15% tip. Not sure why they treated us like this. Was that racism? Our day was spoiled by their stupid, so called pizza, and...

Great experience! Down to every single detail, we had an amazing time and felt warmly embraced and well taken care of!

Really impressive service from Shawn, who was always ready to accommodate in any way and made sure we felt welcome, comfortable, and at ease! Truly cares for his craft. As well, I can say the same way everything else reflects the way this restaurant is run! Amazing food. Beautiful atmosphere, relaxing and ambient (even their TVs have soothing visuals on them - as a guest, you can leave all concerns/worries behind) Well designed space, clean, organized, smooth service, generous portions, sauces and dressings made in house fresh and are seriously delicious (the pepper dip/sauce is so good!!! served with fresh focaccia)
