Treats’ n Eats is a cheerful dessert shop tucked inside a Sheppard Avenue plaza. The smell of vanilla batter and melted chocolate greets you at the door, and the neon-lit counter crew keep things welcoming. I tried the Cheesecake Dream crêpe. Watching the cook swirl batter on the griddle, then layer strawberries, cheesecake, white-chocolate drizzle, and Kawartha Dairy Black Raspberry Thunder ice cream was a show in itself. The mix of warm crêpe, cool ice cream, and tart fruit worked well, though the sweetness crept up after a few bites. Next came the Peanut Butter Brownie Cheesecake, a dense slice packed with peanut-butter mousse and brownie bits. Fans of salty-sweet desserts will enjoy it, but one slice is plenty. Portions are generous, prices feel fair, and the menu lets you build your own crêpe or waffle with dozens of toppings. I don’t have a big sweet tooth and will likely save a return visit for when the craving hits, yet Treats’ n Eats remains a solid choice for anyone hunting a fun dessert stop in Scarborough.

We ordered a make-your-own sundae, with 2 flavours of our choice, being blackberry thunder and strawberry. I don't know if the ice cream scoop was too hot or something, but after receiving our ice cream, it was immediately already melting and barely solid anymore. The chocolate sauce was also frozen(?)at the very bottom, not sure if that's supposed to happen or not but it should've been the ice cream that was solid and not the chocolate. Halfway through eating it, it had basically become liquid ice cream soup. The strawberry flavor also completely overpowered the blackberry, but maybe it's just cause they were both berry flavoured. The flavours themselves didn't really stand out, just okay. I'm not sure if we just expected too much, but it's not worth the $12 :(

Imagine ordering a beef burger for delivery… and the restaurant sends you a chicken burger, without even asking if you’re okay with this. I don’t know about you, but I’d be angry! In this case, I ordered 2 soft serve pints: one vanilla, and one twist. But the restaurant decided (WITHOUT asking me), to send me 2 chocolate! It wasn’t a mistake, as they took the time to write a note on the bag… BUT WHY didn’t you call me to check with me? I actually don’t like plain chocolate soft serve, so I would’ve told them to cancel my order… because now I have something I didn’t want, and do not enjoy. I’m gobsmacked that they thought this was an acceptable thing to do. Unreal!

One Star – If I Could Give Zero, I Would.

Where do I even begin? I ordered a Milk Chocolate Indulgence Cake – you know, the rich, decadent, smooth chocolate masterpiece that I’ve been daydreaming about for weeks. I had a special occasion. I had guests. I had plans. What did this so-called “bakery” give me instead? A Red Velvet Cake. RED. VELVET. CAKE. Are you kidding me?

First of all, red velvet isn’t even real chocolate cake. It’s a weak, confused imposter with a food coloring addiction. Who in their right mind thinks it’s okay to swap out a luxurious milk chocolate indulgence cake for a flavor that tastes like a dyed sponge with bitter icing? Not only is this an outrageous substitution – they didn’t even call to ask. No phone call, no email, no heads-up, just a box with the wrong cake like it was completely normal to ruin someone’s celebration.

Let’s talk about the cake itself. Dry. Crumbly. Tasted like it had been made three days ago and left to contemplate its bad decisions in the back of a fridge. The frosting? An overly sweet, gritty mess of cream cheese horror. The layers were uneven, the decoration was sloppy, and there were even little air bubbles in the icing like it was in a rush to escape the disaster it had become. This was not a cake – this was a culinary insult.

When I called the bakery to ask what on earth had happened, the staff acted like I was being difficult. “Oh, we thought it would be okay.” YOU THOUGHT?! You thought it would be okay to completely ignore what I ordered, ruin my party centerpiece, and give me a cake that nobody wanted to eat? There was no apology, no refund, not even a coupon. Just weak excuses and the audacity to suggest I should “try red velvet – it’s popular.” Well congratulations, you just made me hate red...

To the owner of this store:

You are serving your customers contaminated food. If you want to verify this, please check your cameras around 10 PM today. Never returning to this place!!

I have tried the ice creams at your store before, so I know they taste decent. But taste has absolutely no value in the food business if basic hygiene is ignored—especially right in front of customers.

When I walked into the store today around 10 PM, I saw the server rolling up the carpet on the floor. My mistake was not asking her to wash her hands afterward. I was exhausted from a long trip and had taken a detour specifically to buy your ice cream, so it slipped my mind—until I saw her serving me without gloves just a moment later.

I had already paid, but when I pointed out that she wasn’t wearing gloves, her reply was shockingly careless: “We don’t use hands to get ice cream out.” Excuse me? Your dirty hands (which you never washed) were still touching the tub and the scoop, contaminating everything.

When I told her this was unhygienic, she smirked and reluctantly put on a glove, but by then the damage was done. I’ve seen this server working here often, so I couldn’t bring myself to eat that ice cream. I left the store with my order only to throw it straight in the trash and feeling pathetic about all the times that I have eaten here.

I was too tired to do anything else at that moment, but I couldn’t stay quiet about this. People deserve to know the hygiene...
