I absolutely love this place, I’ve never had an issue before and since I live so far now I rarely get food only when I’m in the area which is a little treat for me but this time around I happen to call in the order before picking up because I was parked in an hour, parking and didn’t want to get a ticket so I thought it would help me out And when I went to pick up the order literally with the four minutes of me calling the ordering knowing I’ll still have to wait a little bit, but as long as the orders were gone through anyways also there was six guys in the little kitchen,Which was kind of shocking .. but anyways, besides that the Shawarmas were already ready which was kind of fishy 🤔 and so when I finally get home Which is almost in Pickering by the way 🤦🏼♀️ here just to find out the chicken Shawarma were completel dry and literally hard pieces of chicken so obviously they gave all the older pieces. Absolutely disappointing most likely won’t be stopping here for a while unfortunately. I don’t want this experience to turn me off from this place but I’m just seriously disappointed, very unprofessional to use old food . Just a heads up Everyone maybe don’t call your order in Just Go in and place your order that way you can see them making your food 🙄.. .. so I thought I’d give this place another try today 5/13/2025 since I was in the area and I ended up getting 2 chicken Shawarmas to find brown paper towel in one of my Shawarmas 🤢 sooo gross .. what a turn off I don’t know if I’m gonna be getting food from this...
Read moreWanas Shawarma is hands down one of the best shawarma spots I’ve come across, everything about the food is perfect. Their style is authentic and serious, and you can taste that passion in every bite. The Syrian shawarma is the star of the show, juicy, flavorful, and wrapped with just the right balance of garlic sauce, fries and pickles. The attention to detail is remarkable, especially with the tarboosh on top, which adds that final touch of authenticity and flair. It’s honestly shawarma done right, and once you try it, it’s hard to settle for less anywhere else.
That said, the only drawback isn’t about the food at all, it’s the parking situation. Since the location is downtown, finding a spot can be hectic and inconvenient, which takes away from the otherwise flawless experience. For a place that serves shawarma of this caliber, I genuinely think they should consider opening another branch in an area with more accessible parking. It would make it so much easier for people to come in and enjoy without the hassle.
All in all, Wanas Shawarma is excellent in every way when it comes to food, and I can’t recommend it enough. If they expand to more convenient locations, and hopefully to Durham, it would easily become the go to shawarma destination for even...
Read moreA 4.9, really? What're y'all smoking? I swear, once a spot gets any amount of hype going behind it (justified or not), people here just roll with it and keep the gravy train going by assigning five-star after five-star, regardless of whether the food actually is worthy of it. Which it most certainly is not at Wanas. After hearing so much about it, I finally gave it a try and came away vastly disappointed, especially after seeing such a monster score. I think Toronto is currently in the novelty shawarma phase, wherein eaters crave (with their eyes) to see grill marks on their wraps, lol. This was some of the downright most ordinary, basic, shawarma I've had... honestly barely a cut above Alibaba's or the dreaded Osmow's... Wanas just barely escapes that category. Objectively cheap/poor quality chicken and bread, and seasoned in the most lacklustre way. The only salvaging is done by the molasses and garlic sauce- without those, this would fall flat on its face. I do like the size/form-factor and how it's pressed, but won't ever both coming back. Found Alpha's to be pretty much the same- boring shawarma that has a similar (if not more) amount of hype behind it... While it's a different type of wrap altogether, I much prefer...
