Wife and I had originally planned to go to another ramen restaurant for lunch but we hit a bit of snag with our errands at Fairview so we settled with Yoi located in the food court. In terms of ramen, you get a decent bowl with 3 decently thick slices of meat and a runny egg (I've encountered other ramen restaurants that mess this up) plus all the other typical toppings. For the noodles, they were your standard yellow chewy variety. My wife likes softer noodles for ramen but we found the noodles softened up the longer it was sat in the soup. For $12.99 it's actually pretty decent especially when most other places charge $16-20 per bowl these days.
I had the chicken katsu burger which wasn't on their menu a few years ago. It was a decent sized sandwich with a crispy dark meat cutlet, a soft good quality bun and a generous portion of veggies and pickles to balance it out. It also came with a side of furikake fries which was good too.
Overall - probably the best food stall in the food court...
Read moreI usually get the salmon poke bowl which is usually really good. However this restaurant is inconsistent in a lot of things. The very first time I tried it a few months ago the food was amazing, it was prepared relatively quickly, and the service was great as well.
That being said there have been a few hiccups since then. Once my order was accidentally given to someone else and I ended up waiting 20 mins to get my food. Another time there was barely any sauce on the rice so when I got halfway through my bowl and finished everything else there was nothing left but plain steamed rice.
Overall, the food is inconsistent and so is the service. Sometimes and it’s good and you don’t wait long, other times not so much. I understand working in a restaurant is super stressful however me paying about $13.50 of my hard earned money for something I’m less than satisfied with is...
Read moreOrdered take out. The bbq chicken & furikake fries was good. The Yakisoba noodle was extremely salty & spicy, it was completely inedible. Called the store to complain, the server who answered the phone hung up. I called back to tell her what happened & she said: “there was just noise so I hung up”. Told her about the noodles, she replied: “it’s probably the pepper but it’s not supposed to be spicy. I’ll tell my manager then.” She was about to hung up. I said “so you’re not gonna do anything about it? Good customer service 🤦🏻♀️ ok, Bye!”
Their food is usually good. But the people who work there does not know the meaning of Customer Service. Not friendly or accommodating at all. Beware, you’ve...
