In my 3 decades of being alive and trying thousands of ice cream stores in dozens of countries, I can confidently and honestly say that this was my family's worst experience. The owner/manager and staff members are shockingly rude. I cannot fathom how this business has stayed alive because the leadership does not understand basic principles of customer service. I have celiac disease (gluten allergy) and have tried three times in the last year to order ice cream safely here. I always make my request clearly and very politely, and I wait for non-busy times to go. Each time they have been completely unwilling to even try to accommodate my request. Most recently, I asked them to use a clean scooper and get my scoop from a part of the ice cream container that hadn't already been touched by a previous scooper (since that scooper may have also come into contact with the ice cream cones), and they outright refused. The owner/manager was incredibly nasty about it and said that they would not scoop from an untouched part of the large tub of ice cream because it would change the appearance of the tub of ice cream. !!!!!! I have never experienced this, ever. From gourmet gelato shops to big brands like Baskin+Robbins, everyone is always willing to use a clean scoop and get ice cream from an untouched part of the tub. This guy actually looked angry at the request, as if it was just the most unreasonable thing anyone had asked him. My family and friends who used to go here regularly will not be buying ice cream from this bizarrely rude man's...
Read moreIf I'm not working, I'm looking for ways to cool down in this blazin' summer heat... And what better way than with some gelato? I hit up a local spot on Yonge Street, Your Gelato, and was pleasantly surprised by how natural their cool treats were. The first flavor we had was WATERMELON, which was absolutely perfect in flavor and sweetness. It was basically like eating a super cold, sweet and juicy watermelon. In terms of texture, there was a subtle grainy mouth-feel like that of the real fruit (iykyk), which leads me to believe they use real fruit in the making of their gelato. There was absolutely no artificial flavoring that could be noted (5.0 out of 5.0).
The second flavor I tried was the LEMON GELATO, a personal favorite growing up, especially during hot summer days as citrus notes always help me cool down with its refreshing flavor palette. If you're looking for your typical sweet lemon gelato, this one will give you a rude awakening as it is quite sour! I definitely had a sour face with my first bite, but it was very natural in taste and delicious in its unique way. I truly believe there's the use of real lemon juice in the crafting of this treat (4.8 out of 5.0)
Their gelato may not be the most aesthetic, but don't judge a book by its cover!
In terms of seating, there's some dine in as well as a...
Read moreThe overall quality of the ice cream is good, and most of the people I was with really enjoyed it — so it might just be a matter of personal taste that it wasn’t exactly to mine.
However, I think there’s room for improvement when it comes to customer service. The staff didn’t seem very friendly or welcoming, which took away from the overall experience. One thing I really noticed was the lack of access to drinking water. After eating something sweet like ice cream, it’s quite common to feel thirsty. Unfortunately, there was no cold water available — not even bottled water for sale — and the only option offered came from a hot tap.
It would be great to see a small water station or at least cold bottled water available, which would make the visit much more pleasant. A bit more warmth and attention from the staff could also make a...
