I was looking forward to the create-your-own-hotpot experience, especially because I had heard it was one of the best in the GTA, however I was slightly disappointed with my experience. The lime water was a good start, but it went downhill from there. First, the ingredients did not have any covers and were sitting out in the stands for who knows how long, so that already did not sit well with me. My friend fell ill with stomach pains the morning after eating here, but I feel okay. Furthermore, one pair of tongs is used to get all your ingredients, so cross contamination of allergens is possible, and I would not recommend eating here if you have severe allergies. The food selection was decent. As for service, our food came fairly quick, but I wish they gave us more broth as it was barely above the level of the ingredients. The taste was average. The sauce bar was very plain and didn’t have many options, it was only sesame sauce, chili oil and soy sauce with a few garnishes. However, on the bright side, the staff who helped us was very kind and attentive to my needs. I appreciated that when I wasn’t able to handle the spice level, she offered to change the broth to a milder version for me. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend coming here because I personally don’t find the food display to be the most safe...

I want to share an unforgettable experience I had with Zhangliang Hot Pot, all thanks to the incredible customer service I received. On a bitterly cold, snowy night, I stopped by to pick up my online order, and what could have been a routine transaction turned into a heartwarming moment I’ll never forget.

A team member named Kangkang greeted me with such kindness and enthusiasm, it truly made my night. Despite the freezing weather and heavy snow, he welcomed me with a genuine smile that never left his face. His warm words and attentive demeanor made me feel cared for, not just as a customer but as a person. It’s not every day you meet someone with such passion and positivity—it left a lasting impression on me.

Kangkang’s attitude is a shining example of what exceptional service looks like. His dedication and kindness went above and beyond, turning a simple pickup into a moment of warmth and humanity. I sincerely hope Zhangliang Hot Pot recognizes his incredible effort because people like him make all the difference.

I promise I will return—not just for the delicious food but for the kindness and heart I experienced. Please take good care of Kangkang—he has a bright future ahead of him with his...

I came here for the ma latang experience, i have been to the yonge location already and wanted to give this location a try. It was terrible. My girlfriend had shown me what looked like a ripe potato and pieces of pork that seemed slightly undercooked. Initially, we had thought nothing of it because ma latang is based on the restaurant cooking the dish i make, surely they can cook it properly, False. Within 2 hours, my girlfriend states that she has pain in her stomach, into the night, symptoms get worse and she experiences stomach pain, chills, headache and nausea. She ended up vomiting throughout the night. I don’t need to explain the following days but she had to take work off because she caught food poisoning. We don’t like to talk down on restaurants but after reading the reviews and realizing that we were not a one-off situation, this is unacceptable. we had an amazing time at the location at Yonge so this shows how a different team affects the success of a restaurant, I’ve read reviews from years ago of this restaurant complaining about similar symptoms of food poisoning and yet nothing has been done. This restaurant needs a hygiene revamp or many customers will continue catching these...

I’ve always walked by this place and been wanting to check it out. Super glad that I decided to try something new and finally go in! Zhang Liang has become my go-to these days. The broth is super tasty, and I love the concept of choosing your own toppings and weighing it after. You can choose either 2 broths (and change the spice level) and there is a dry option as well. If you can’t handle your spice, I would recommend getting the tomato broth, but if you can then their beef bone broth is superior 👌 It’s great to come here on your own or with friends, as you pay for your food first then eat. No need for any extra service - it is very simple. The workers here are friendly and will assist you if needed. Also, if you aren’t so hungry, this meal is perfect to share with a partner or friend :) The interior is clean and everything is laid out nicely. Very spacious too. Compared to other locations, I am very fond of this one. My only complaint is that I wish they had a membership card as I keep coming back lol. But it’s nice that there’s also a 10% cash discount 🙂

A pay by weight soup restaurant that comes with a variety of options to choose from. Restaurant is self serve so you just enter the shop and seat yourself, grab a bowl and then checkout. Once ordered, the waiter will give you all the utensils and the bowl you ordered. Been here a couple of times and typically end up spending less than $20 (minimum is $12/bowl). Make sure to portion right and not overestimate how much you eat; imagine it as if you’re cooking your own noodles and how much toppings you’d add to it. Tried both the tomato and beef broth soup and I honestly love the beef broth soup (got it mild though cause I can’t survive their spicy looool). Not the biggest fan of their tomato soup though but I’ve had friends who had it and they liked it more than the beef broth; just personal preferences but both is good! Definitely recommend trying out ~
