This is the best Vietnamese restaurant I've tried so far in Scarborough area. When I say that I meant food & ambience. Ive been coming here the last 3 years. The quality & flavour of food have been top notch since day 1. Once tasted it stands out from the rest. There are so many good ones but my favourite is the hanoi style vermicelli w grilled pork. Many restaurants have this but they have perfected it. I am gluten free & go for more vegetables. This place really deck up the veges. Not only that, a good variety & always fresh. I also love how all the fried items are not as oily. Just enough of seasoning but not over. In other words you can always find a wholesome family meal & feel good after eating. They also have the best Vietnamese desserts. My favourite is the coconut agar dessert which you can't find anywhere else. Their Vietnamese fried spring roll is also best in town. Gluten free as they use rice wrap, yummy meat & vege filling, always crunchy & not oily. I can't have enough. But the most special thing about this place is the staff & owner of the restaurant. They are always so warm, happy & welcoming. I find that rare in Asian restaurants. They also have the most beautiful interior decor. Seatings are nicely spread out & very comfortable even on a very packed day. Washrooms are extra spacios. Will always come here for my favourite pho, hanoi grilled pork, spring roll & so much more. Oh yes, they also have the best fish vermicelli w homemade fish cakes steeped in tomato infused soup & extra vege topping. The fish fillets are so fresh & stays crunchy right until the end. Im still wondering how they do it!!.....👍👍 Oh yes, they have the best Vietnamese mango salad in town! Not soggy, a perfect blend of flavours, herbs & ground peanuts, topped w the most delicious perfectly grilled sliced...
Read moreMy family and I came here to celebrate my sisters birthday. We were really excited and wanted to enjoy it but we were very disappointed.
It is extremely difficult to get a waiter to serve you. We tried to flag someone down to take our order for 10 minutes after already been sitting for 15 minutes.
Half of our meals came 15 minutes after the other meals, making it really hard for us to even eat together. And when the meals came, they were cold which meant they had been sitting there for awhile. This place is busy, but the management is extremely poor if our meals had been sitting there.
Not only that, WE had to ask them to check on our meals and our drinks because we had been waiting for so long. It’s as if they put in orders to the kitchen and forget about them. I’m almost doing their entire job by chasing waiters down to get my order in and constantly reminding them that we hadn’t received anything after waiting for so long, I might as well cook it myself as well!
The food itself is mediocre at best. But I couldn’t really get a good taste of it since my food was so cold.
The combination of slow service and not being able to get the attention of waiters makes the experience horrible. After telling them we had received poor service, they were not apologetic at all and simply said “we’re busy”. Being busy is not an excuse for poor service. Restaurants are only busy because customers keep coming back, please change your attitude if you want...
Read moreI’ve always wanted to try Pho Anh Vu as I’ve seen how popular it was when it initially opened in another plaza. We came on Sunday around 7pm, and despite it being full, we were lucky to have gotten a spot right away for 2 people.
The interior is gorgeous, and arguably one of the nicest or probably the nicest Vietnamese restaurants I’ve ever visited in the GTA. I knew right away this spot will be pretty authentic as all the workers were speaking Vietnamese (a lot of pho restaurants I’ve been to were usually run by Chinese).
I’ve seen come comments that their food is quite pricey in comparison, but the portion size of the food is actually larger. I got a small Pho Tai, and it was definitely at least the size of a medium. The soup was very pleasant to drink, but what stood out to me was the quality, and quantity of the rare beef slices. They were very tender, most likely not frozen and higher quality, and there were many pieces included. So yes, although a small is more expensive than other restaurants, the quality of the meat and the portion makes up for the price. We also tried the Bun Ga Nuong (53), and the portion of the grilled chicken is bigger than other restaurants. Both were great dishes, but the Pho Tai really stood out to me the most.
We will definitely come to visit them again, but will be grabbing a XL Pho Tai to share as it was both our favourite...
