This place is a red flag if you care about where you are spending your money both morally and ethically. New owner posted a 5 star google review on his own account, under his full name. His last name is very unique and if you scroll back, it will probably stand out to you. How do I know his name you might wonder? Well, a few weeks after they took over, I asked one of the waitstaff what his name was (as I had yet to meet or see him) and it’s an uncommon name, so it stuck out in my mind. Here I am 2 + months later, checking reviews to see if other patrons have noticed what I have noticed. And there it is, the self-made google review. Makes me wonder how many of the 5 star reviews that have been left recently are even real now. As a somewhat regular to Bobs over the last 6-7 years, when we heard there were new owner(s) taking over, we were very interested to see what plans they had in the works. I tried to give them some grace but its not deserved.
Me and my husband finished our dog walk a little early a few weekends ago so we were waiting outside until they opened their doors for lunch. Much to our dismay, we saw what appeared to be, one of the servers using a leaf blower cleaning up the parking lot. I completely understand lot maintenance needs to be done. However, having someone out there doing this type of work and then expecting them to serve customers food is quite bizarre, and quite frankly unsanitary. Turns out she WAS a server. Poor young lady had outdoor debris in her hair which was done up quite nicely and she would not have been able to fix that unless she rewashed her hair.
Another observation that was made, the staff mop behind the bar area while the place is still in almost full swing (have seen it a few times around the same time so it’s not an isolated incident where there was a spill that needed to be cleaned) I also noticed staff using the sides of the counter to assist walking around the area when its still wet so they don’t slip. Its only a matter of time before there is a serious work place injury. And probably just to save a few bucks? Maybe have your wait staff inside mopping the floors after you’ve closed or before you open instead of having them getting dirty outside in the hot sun doing lot maintenance. I was introduced to some of the new owner’s family throughout the times we have been there. I have noticed when they are in the building, they are standing around chatting or on their phones watching the staff busting their bottoms and not helping. Not a good look guys! It’s strange that you are completely oblivious to this and people need to leave bad google reviews for you to realize how terrible this looks to your customers. I have received lukewarm meals two different occasions. First time, I asked for a refire and the server profusely apologized, and I got a hot meal which was great. Thankfully my husband had ordered a salad, and he was able to wait so we could enjoy our date night meal together (with live music which we love) The second time I didn’t say anything about it because it was the same server and I did not want to bother her again. Their espresso items still on the menu with no espresso machine. The last macaroni I had, the shredded cheese on top tasted like it was from a bag that was pulled out from the back of a fridge after sitting for a month.
Bobs has been a staple in the community in Aldergrove, and it is so sad that the new owners are seemingly willing to run it into the ground to save a few bucks.
Akhil and the great servers are why we kept going back. But until the owners get their stuff in order and treat their front staff better, we will no longer be supporting this business until I hear some changes have been made (since I can no longer trust the...
Read moreWell the service was friendly that is definitely the perk and oh the patio It has a huge wrap around.
Once they sit you down I never got asked anything again until after I finished my meal , It took forever to get my drinks. I ordered my first drink and the appetizer came first .
We ordered the spicy calamari & let me tell you it's not that special it's very mediocre probably one of the worst calamaris I've ever had.
Everytime I needed something I'd have to holler down the waitress. We never had anyone come ask how's your food or would you like another drink.
My bf ordered the heart attack burger He said it alright but wouldn't order it again.
My honest opinion of my food I ordered the 9 Oz strip loin peppercorn steak and the peppercorn sauce was HORRIBLE!!! I SCRAPED IT ALL OFF.!! It had the WORST TASTE!
I ate the steak but the cut was more of a fatty rib eye than a strip loin. I ordered medium rare and it was medium well it had barely any pink ,it was slightly but barely pink ( completely grey throughout) 5 % pink. It was overcooked to what I ordered but I still ate it. After scraping the horrible demiglaze off it was slightly bearable. I would highly recommend sticking to the cactus club vrs that demiglaze steak. The other food I'm sure is really great the patio and the restaurant has an amazingly friendly and fun vibe. I do love the restaurant and the friendly servers but to be honest the wait time on a drink when there's only 3 tables in the entire restaurant and there's more than 2 servers is quite saddening.
I walked in feeling very ecstatic but I LEFT knowing that I wouldn't be ordering the steak from there ever again.
I had to flag down the server to get napkins and a second drink The second drink didn't arrive til we were done eating all our food , the mojitos we ordered also had no booze in them.
I don't blame the servers who can become side tracked . It's not always people's faults and I understand that. But I'm going to write honest reviews.
My bill was 109.41 $ For a spicy calamari 2 caesars 1 heart attack burger 1 peppercorn steak 2mojitos
I definitely overpaid and gave a big tip especially when the service wasn't the best. I felt bad for leaving this honest review and I felt bad for telling the server how I feel but this is how I feel.
The restaurant though seems great and i wouldn't let one bad experience ruin another potentially great one in the future.
It could have been disappointing this time but it might be better later in...
Read moreWe came out from Aldergrove with a big group on a Tuesday evening, thinking it would be a nice summer dinner on the patio. The setup was really lovely, two patios, cozy indoor seating, and a chill local vibe. We were excited to relax and enjoy a nice night out.
But honestly, what we saw with the service was just not okay.
There was only one server working the whole place. Seriously understaffed. One person. For the entire restaurant and both patios. In the middle of summer. She was doing everything, taking orders, running food, cleaning tables, doing payments, and still somehow stayed polite and professional the whole time. She was clearly running herself ragged, and we seriously felt for her. If it were up to us, she deserves a full 5 stars just for holding it all together.
What really got us, though, was seeing someone who looked liked a server on shift or someone from the owners just hanging around. She didn’t help at all. Just walked in casually wearing jean shorts and started serving and chatting like nothing was going on, and totally ignoring the chaos. It felt so unfair watching the poor server struggle while someone who could’ve helped didn’t even try.
The food was actually pretty good, we all enjoyed our meals once they came out. But of course, there were delays between courses and it took a while to get drinks and refills, which was totally expected with just one person running the whole show.
To whoever’s managing this place, you seriously need to do better for your staff. One server for a big restaurant and two patios? That’s just setting someone up to fail. It’s not right, and it affects the entire customer experience.
Would we come back? Maybe, but only if we hear things have improved. The server gave it her all, and we really appreciated that. But management has...
