Today was our second time getting takeout from the Willowbrook location within a two week period.
Phaedra, the server who took the order both times, was friendly and patient with the gift cards (rather than using a barcode, the server has to enter a long code of digits, and each payment has to be done separately, the new balance calculated, and entered for the next payment).
The food was tasty for what it is.
The reason for the low star rating is entirely thanks to the owner, Amrit.
We substituted the fries with soup, which the Murrayville location has offered as a side option at the same cost (maybe it's a mistake and it should be an upcharge; I don't know). Today, when I saw that there were three $4 upcharges for this, I was surprised to see it. I was told it had been the same on the last order, but since I didn't get the detailed receipt, I guess I just didn't realize. Really wish restaurants would make it very clear when you are making an upgrade, so you're not surprised to find it on the bill. Definitely would not have upgraded if we'd known, as it wouldn't have been worth it to us. Made a mental note not to do it again, and moved on.
When we got home and unpacked the bags, we noticed we'd only gotten two soups instead of three. I called the location to let them know (having been in business myself, I'm always one for giving the business the opportunity to correct a mistake and ending up with a happy, loyal customer, rather than a dissatisfied one), and was handed over to the owner, Amrit, who was immediately confrontational, telling me we got two soups, and that's all we paid for. I was taken a bit aback by the tone, and told him we'd definitely paid for three, but he insisted it was just two. He went to check, but before he had even checked, he told me that anyways they gave us the fries, which they shouldn't have given us. We'd only unpacked the bags, not opened the boxes, so hadn't noticed (but really, that was irrelevant). Amrit checked the order, realized we had been charged for 3 upgrades, but still, instead of apologizing not just for making the mistake in the first place, but for telling me so rudely that I was wrong when really he was wrong, he doubled down about how we got two sides for free, since we did get three fries. I agreed we got the fries, but we paid to get the soup. He eventually offered I could go there and they'd give me a soup. I said I wasn't going to drive there then and there and spend my time and gas to correct their mistake. After some more talk about fries, which I let him know very clearly was their mistake, so irrelevant as far as their mistake with the soup went (honestly, if he hadn't come on so strong and confrontational right from the start, I would have been fine with it once I realized we got three fries in addition to the two soups), he finally said they'd refund us the $3.99 next time we were in the area. That's all he could do. He kept repeating $3.99, as if to drive home how little it was, so I reminded him not to forget about the tax. See you soon for those $4.19, Amrit! I'll check my couch cushions for a penny, in case you...
Read moreLong black hair was found on my wife's toast ( my wife and daughter have blonde hair). I noticed the hair (complete with scalp skin) as my 2 year old was trying to eat the toast and my wife was half done her meal.
I brought it up to the waitress and she immediately took the plate away. She returned a few minutes later and said " the cook is bald so it didn't come from there". Followed by "what do you want us to do".
I hate this question as I feel it's an unwritten rule for all restaurants that if a meal is ruined by such a thing as a huge hair in the meal, then the restaurant should naturally just comp or discount the meal that was left half eaten.
If the restaurant does not want to comp the meal then they should never ask the question in the first place and just bring the bill as it is, I'm ok with this... Really, I just won't eat there again.
Instead my wife and I are put in the awkward position of begging they comp the meal. I therefore said " you do what you feel is appropriate".
Again the waitress leaves and returns 5 minutes later with a $10 off coupon ( after $20 spent) "for our next visit". I take a breath and try to explain why I advised her of the hair in the first place. The waitress interrupts me repeatedly while now trying to argue the origin of the hair in a quasi murder mystery, who did it (This is going nowhere) debate.
I'm fine if you don't want to comp the hairy meal, just don't try and tell me the hair didn't come from the kitchen and I'm wrong for suggesting such a thing.. in fact, where it came from is no consequence to me or my wife who has now ruined her meal and appetite.
The coupon to me is an insult especially as I would have to spend $20 bucks just to use it on another visit.. pleeeeease you think I'm coming back to your place to spend more money on service and food like that, think again.
While I'm on it the prime rib was all fat, over cooked the Yorkshire pudding was a bran muffin the carrots were undercooked by 10 minutes and the a juis sauce was brown water... the entire meal was horrible, but the service is what ruined it for me.
Good luck ricky's, you need it..
Correction, this happend at the rickys located at 88th and...
Read moreGroup of 5 seated comfortably & spaciously @ a long table beside the bar. Enjoyed the Big Brunch Platter but subbed the fried chicken tenders & waffle for French toast instead. They must have also added extra bacon because it looked way more than 3 crispy strips piled on my plate...Mmmmm. 3 scrambled eggs were light & fluffy, 3 sausages were plump & nicely browned, hashbrowns were done just right (half tender & half crispy & not @ all oil-soaked)...but the French toast...Wow !!! 2 perfect squares about a half inch thick each, evenly battered with egg, firm centers (not soggy) with golden crisp breadcrust edges, even after spreading the dollop of butter over each slice. Drizzled my pile of bacon & French toast with syrup & then tackled my plate. This breakfast was so well prepared & delicious that I ate the entire platter, using the corner crust of my French toast to soak up the excess syrup all over my empty plate. Others in our group also subbed items for other options, & our hostess server Sandra was very patient & most accommodating. Can't say enough about this Ricky's location near Willowbrook. Outstanding...
