Me and my wife love this spot. We recently moved to Nova Scotia from Ontario where their is an abundance of British food shops but nothing of way of cafe/restaurants offering a sit down experience of the UK.
Great British Grub does a brilliant job of this, I've been for a pie and chips lunch (I got pictures but that was earlier in the summer and can't seem to find them!), But it was delicious and sitting on the patio in the sun felt very much like a good beer garden! Then a trip to Victoria Park recommended by the owner, I had no idea about it and it became one of my favourite places in the province! It makes for a great day out doing both, especially when driving in from Halifax.
I was in again recently as I was passing through Truro and got myself a Scottish breakfast, adding an English sausage! It was all very good, this time eating inside. It was a Wednesday morning and the place was packed the entire time we were there. My wife got the veg Balti and loved it! Upon leaving we grabbed a lemon cookie, it didn't make it to the car, my wife nipped in and grabbed 6 more which didn't see the next day!
Overall it's a brilliant experience offering an authentic British experience here in Nova Scotia through excellent food and exceptional service. Any time I'm in the area I'll stop in and any time I have visitors from Ontario or the UK I'll make a day of visiting GBG and...

We were lucky to snag a seat immediately, but I get the feeling this place is frequently busy (but there was a large reservation/group today so YMMV).
I had just a coffee and single side pancake, coffee was very good and the pancake was standard good restaurant pancake.
Wife had a bacon butty, which was absolutely stellar and out of this world. Said it was the best she's had since living in Scotland. Home fries were also just good ole fashioned home fries.
If that wasn't enough, there's a hefty take-away option menu of pies and sausage rolls too. The wife opted for a sausage roll. Oh and they had Guiness Cupcakes today (for $1.65 each?!).
Great food, perfect atmosphere, friendly staff...but how are the prices? Well our order total was $18 for two coffees, one amazing breakfast, a pancake, and a sausage roll.
The menu is extremely reasonably priced, to put it mildly.
If you are in Truro, do yourself a favour and pop in. Plenty of parking...
Read moreA very busy weekend for me. I was out for a stroll with my dog as GBG is in my neighborhood. I could smell a delicious delightful scent wafting thru the trees. The rear entrance led me to shaded picnic tables where I found a spot for Finnigan. I went in to wash my hands. I chose to order while inside as I knew exactly what I wanted, the Meat Omlette, yum! I went out to a cold dish of water laid at Finn’s feet. I had a lovely chat with Jane, the owner. Khloe was at my picnic table in a few short minutes with my piping hot meal. She is a gem, so sweet and polite, ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from me! What a lovely time Finn and I had in the shade with the rustling trees and breeze as we ate (lots of meats to be shared with Finn!). If you know, you know about GBG. If you haven’t been and are in Truro or passing thru, you must stop into this absolute jewel of a family run...
