I accidentally stumbled across Bahar on their first day open. As there was a gap left by Buro closing down I was rather excited to see another cafe open, and especially because they appear to be more bakery oriented in their offerings.
Since then I have gone through a number of their treats and am genuinely satisfied by their flavour and consistency. Please give Bahar a visit and decide if they are the right stop for you during the daily downtown grind. The family running the place gives an incredibly welcoming atmosphere and show a willingness to improve their methods and recipes to ensure their menu reaches its fullest potential.
The first treats I purchased are the Butter Croissant, Qottab, and Cardamom Cupcake. I then purchased them again a week apart and another week apart. The first day they had a good flavour but were a bit on the dry side. Not bad, but something you would want to have a nice tea or coffee with to bring out its full potential. This changed rather quickly however. All three were exponentially better on their own with each day of operations. Seeing that improvement was very pleasing.
Croissants and croissant based treats. I am a big fan of their croissants. For me I really enjoy a dense and moist croissant. The butter croissants are on the smaller side but due to the extra dense layers and added moisture they can be quite filling. The exterior is definitely a thin crust more then a flaky shell. As said before the interior of the croissant is delightfully moist and dense with flaky layers. This is one of my favourite croissants in the general area and others are more textbook and airy, but not quite for me.
The Qottab is something I haven't had before so while I must recommend them, I am not an expert regarding them. The filling is wonderfully nutty and soft. They've been a big hit with my family as well as the Cardamom cupcakes. Both taste delightful.
Another item that is a must try is their Bahar Bread. It has a butter saffron filling and is perfect with a light jam spread. Which they also have a number of house made offerings for. In this case I tried it with some of their Tangerine marmalade and it was a perfect mid day snack.

From the very first time I stepped into Bahar Bakery, I knew I had found something special. Every time I walk in, I feel like I’m coming home. The warm, welcoming atmosphere is always comforting, and the phrase “Made with love” on the wall couldn’t be more fitting. You can feel that love in everything they do, and it’s a place where I genuinely feel safe and at ease.
One thing that makes each visit even more delightful is how they always offer a little coconut cookie to try. It’s such a simple gesture, but it makes the experience so much more personal and thoughtful. I can’t help but smile when I see other customers leave with that same happy look on their faces. It’s the kind of place where you leave feeling better than when you came in.
Their sandwiches made with fresh Barbari bread are a must-try! I’ve never had anything quite like it, so unique and delicious. The baked goods are always fresh and rotating regularly, so there’s always something new to discover. And don’t miss their chocolate croissant—easily the best in the city. You won’t regret it!
I’ve enjoyed so many of their treats, like Ghotab, Baklava, Ghorabieh (the almond cookie), and the honey cake—all of which have been incredible. I even ordered a blueberry cake for my mom’s birthday, and it was such a hit that everyone at the party was asking where I got it!
Pairing these treats with one of their delicious drinks is always a highlight. Whether you’re coming in for breakfast, lunch, or just a quick treat, Bahar Bakery is a place that truly lives up to its “Made with love” motto. It’s become one of my favorite places, and I can’t wait to visit again.
A visit here is always a treat, and I can’t...
Read moreWho are the ones giving such high stars to this place? I wonder if they are getting paid. The service was ok, no complaints there, but the rest of the evaluation. Hmmm... This is not a great place to hang out, there's just nothing unique, cozy or comfortable about the place. Yeah it's clean and reasonably well arranged. Not offensive at all, but nothing special. The pastries? Hmm... I think the word "baked playdough" comes to mind. There was nothing interesting about it at all. Again, almost nothing offensive (other than the dough flavour) but absolutely nothing unique or interesting. We had their house herbal tea. It might have been flavoured hot water, it was sooooo bland (yeah we kept soaking it but nothing comes out). Also had a cappuccino which tasted like ... coffee flavoured milk? Again, nothing terribly offensive about the drink but also nothing of interest either. It was not bitter, not sour, but also not very "coffee". If it's good coffee you want, there's a better place a block away. Really not worth my time returning. The whole place is just, how shall I describe it? Very inoffensive but also very bland. Nothing wrong but also nothing right. Is it better than Starbucks? Sure, I'll give it that. If that's the level you aspire to, then...
