We’ve been loyal customers for over two years and have always loved your pretzels—they were part of our weekly Friday routine. Sadly, we recently noticed a new note on your ingredient signage stating that the pretzels contain pork lard. This was really disappointing, as we can no longer enjoy them due to dietary restrictions - also pretzels should be vegetarian?! It’s unfortunate to have to stop supporting a place we truly enjoyed and find a new weekly pretzel place…. We hope you’ll consider offering a lard-free and vegetarian option in the future.
EDIT TO THEIR REPLY: Most commercial pretzels are not made with lard. Instead, they are typically made with: • Flour • Water • Yeast • Salt • Sugar • Vegetable oils or shortening
Lard (rendered pig fat) is not commonly used in modern mass-produced pretzels, especially because: • Many brands want to keep products vegetarian or vegan-friendly • Vegetable oil is cheaper and more shelf-stable • Some consumers avoid pork for dietary or religious reasons

Read moreI’ve been coming here for years and they are by far the best baked goods in Vancouver. Best bread (any kind), hands down. However: I’ve done online preorders with them for baked goods, especially bagels, and 1/3 times my order is messed up. Usually with less items than I ordered (order 12 bagels and they have 9 or 10), sometimes the wrong kind. They never phone or email to let me know the order was messed up. But today I might have hit my limit. I ordered walnut cranberry loaf and a double espresso. $20!!!!!!! I knew the loaf would be more expensive, but $9 for a double espresso shot??? This is insane. I’ve paid less for cocktails downtown! This might be the last time I go, which will make me very sad. It was mediocre...

Bread I recommend the country loaf— this is the only loaf I've tried, however I don't think you can go wrong with anything from their selection. You can see and taste the expertise :) The baguette is very nice, not your typical white baguette; It has a pleasant sourdough taste to it. Perfect for charcuterie or a baguette sandwich. The interior is glutenous, the shell is not excessively hard or chewy.
Croissant pastry The almond croissant is the best I've ever had, and this item along with the butter croissant are very buttery and flaky. There isn't anything they could improve about the croissant, in my opinion. Treat yourself to one!!
Note that seating is very limited and not the most...
